I saw this last night in Perth and it was epic. I also saw DT on their 25th Anniversary tour for I&W and it was just as good. Unlike a lot of DT fans, I don't sit around and bitch about this or that and the fact that MP isn't in the band anymore. I just enjoy what both sides of the family do and get on with my life.

Garegh62 Why are you responding to all negative comments in regard of the new DT/absence of Portnoy in DT? Let people have their opinions. You don't have to defend the new era of DT so badly. I have listened to DT basically all my life, and I can say that they have lost quite the spirit - end of story. Portnoy had great influence in their attitude towards their fans (e.g. making the drumming and "In the studio material). There were always a good story behind cover art, booklets and lyrics while he was on. Not to say the least; they had far better setlists back then. Now they are limited to what they feel like playing or promoting, instead of heeding the fans. I barely listen to the new stuff, I have tried, but as a drummer myself I can hear that the sound has changed and even sound digital. It's a big turn off for me, sadly. So yeah, people have every right to express their longing for Portnoy's presence in DT.

You simply can't get past the fact that watching this goes to show just how much is lacking from the real DT now that MP isn't in it. A band is only as good as its drummer. Although Mangini is a technical monster, he just has no energy or fire in his playing. Love this.

Anthony S., I don't think he doesn't fit the music. Definitely Ross has a different singing style in comparison to LaBrie's: Haken's singer reminds me of vocalists of progressive rock bands, especially Yes, hitting high notes mostly with head voice; James, on the other hand, is closer to a progressive metal singer, using a lot of head voice and belting and often singing with a raspy and agressive way, as we can see in many Dream Theater songs, like "Lie", "The Mirror", "Scarred", "Beyond This Life", "The Glass Prison", "As I Am" and other tracks. However, most of DT material played on Mortnoy's presentations do not need vocal techniques that Ross hasn't developed (with exception of The Mirror, The Glass Prison and some pretty small parts of The Root of All Evil and The Shattered Fortress), but, for me, it's okay - I just don't feel this "The Mirror" compared to the album version, but everything else is great. Moreover, Ross is much more precise than LaBrie nowadays.
