Here's another proof that Dream Theater was mostly Mike Portnoy's ideas and concept. He's very friendly and passionate about his work. I met him back in 2004 in a local drum store, where he graciously offered to sign my Sabian Hand Hammered Raw Bell Dry Ride cymbal, that I had just bought. A very cool guy.

When I met him at a meet-and-greet with Rod Morgenstein, he was kind of dismissive. But Rod talked with us for about 20 minutes afterwards.

@@gr8guitarplayer, every celebrity has moments like that. Understandable, as long as he wasn’t a massive jerk to you.
@gr8guitarplayer3 жыл бұрын
@@tromboneman4517 Maybe "dismissive" was too strong a word. I guess I felt that way because Rod was so opposite. I told him I caught his drum stick at the show at the 930 Club, so I needed another one. And wouldn't you know it, when his set was done, he looked right at me and threw a stick towards me, but someone else caught it. He was so cool! He even shrugged as if to say, "I tried my best!"

You are NOT going to transpose ANYTHING on those guitars if a string breaks, because the whole guitar goes out of tune. Can't believe the tech didn't just say, "The strings don't break during a show, because they get changed so often, and any little quirks that could cause a string to break have long since been ironed out." Cuz that's the truth. I play my Majesty for at least 300 hours between string changes, and since I adjusted the high e saddle, it no longer breaks strings.

Mike mangini doesnt have all this. Thats why he taught himself to play left and right handed, so he has a symmetrical kit. Whos more awesome? You decide.
