A friend of mine back in the 90's had a VHS of Mike Reid. I watched it and thought bloody hell, that was outragous. But, it grew on me and I watched it again and again. After knowing him in Runaround, Eastenders and actor in many TV shows and stand up I really got to think he was a multi talented, good natured guy who is well loved by many. A real bloody shame that he died so young. Must be a big loss to his family with the character he had, I bet there was never a dull moment.

I remember seeing him live back in the 90s. What a legend he was. You won’t get a way with half of his jokes today because your probably land up in court Same as jim Davidson doing chalky. I think people get offended too easily these days after all they are comedians And don’t really mean anything he loved his wife to bits. But told jokes about his wife. Your never ever see a good true comic like mr read They should of called him sir lord Mike read. RIP your sadly missed
@UKKC80s2 жыл бұрын
Don't think he'd get arrested, probably get cancelled though....if that's case many today's comedians would end up in court for saying what's on their mind, Ricky Gervais and Jimmy Carr would definitely have court cases, so not courts, but TV bannings and Twitter farce deffo....shame because these are quality and old school jokes. Comedians today have to tread carefully and are held back , that's why half ain't funny.

So we got abidde our time and wait for it pass 👍🙏......as for us all volunteers ,think we always been that through out history. We just ants on the ground numbers to them the higher Archey.....👍♥️
@nudisco3003 жыл бұрын
Your misery is caused by living in the past, you need to start living in today. I remember the 90s well and there were some excellent comedians and some crap ones. I remember 1995 (the year I started going clubbing) as the peak year for stabbings. I don't understand how people keep looking back thinking there was a golden time when there never was. There's loads of comedians today doing all sorts of material. It's not all PC. The best thing people living with 'Golden Days' syndrome can do is burn all their 80s and 90s music and start researching new bands and genres and doing the same with Comedians too. The world is no different than it was 30 years ago. I had all of Rick Astleys songs growing up but I don't keep listening to them now! I've come to appreciate different genres and actually really like rap artists like Trippie Red and Fredo. How different is that to listening to upbeat pop from Pete Waterman!!! You evolve and adapt, Change is natural. If you keep harping on for a time that's gone you'll never be happy.
@haroldsteptoe44562 жыл бұрын
@@nudisco300 Last years stabbings in this country were an all time high and we are about to surpass even that number this year. The 90’s were a far better time. Easier to make a few quid. Nobody spent their lives with their head in their phones bragging and being false on social media. We weren’t monitored and watched every mortal move we made. People weren’t so sensitive and offended about every little thing and we never had so much division as a nation. Times are nothing like they were and it’s only going to get a lot worse as we watch our freedoms stripped away.
@nudisco3002 жыл бұрын
@@haroldsteptoe4456Not true as in the facts were 1995 was peak stabbings. I work with an ex cop who was a PC from the late 70s to 2009. He acknowledges levels of crime are lower now too. It's really easy to look back and think it was great. In the 90s most teenage boys had their heads stuck in a Nintendo Gameboy rather than a phone. As for the monitoring etc, it actually all started happening back then. That's when your speed cameras started being put up and cctv was being installed in shops. People were just as sensitive, Benny Hill was taken off the telly in the late 80s. It's easy to think all this stuff just suddenly happened but it hasn't, it's a slow change over decades, but most of this PC stuff you complain of originated from the 90s onwards.
