Mike is self aware, which brings out his intelligence. His confidence is what makes you want to hear what he is saying. he is real which is why you can't him. He's the people I surround myself with.

I'm not a therapist but you truly want to jump through the screen. He couched you. It's beautiful. I hope you called him right after this. watch your demeanor change. by the end i felt like i was listening in on a private conversation. Truly beautiful, and why real people love Mike Rowe.

What I found out in life is you may go to school 2 yr or 4 yr for some kind of career and start out to do that but life leads you in another direction. You have to be flexible enough to follow that even if it is different than you thought you would be doing. You will use what you learned but in a different. Great interview. Thank you

I have always loved Mike, his family and just listening to his wonderful voice. However, what I learned today is how little I really knew him. His vocabulary is intimidating. His common sense approach to life is impressive, and his ability to respond so succinctly to your questions was so interesting. I just never thought about some things the way they were discussed in this and the first video. You are a talented interviewer, and to think I found you only because my brother told me about Mike’s pod cast. I listened today to the one he posted for Memorial Day about the Unknown Soldier. And in the process of searching, found your show. What a nice blessing.

What a wonderful and thoughtful comment, Bev. Thank you for sharing. One of the things I noticed before I interviewed Mike was how much everyone loves him, yet doesn’t necessarily know the side of him we don’t see on camera. That was what I tried to get to, and it’s nice to know it seems to have happened. He is quite impressive, especially when you get to know him even better, don’t you think? I’m happy to welcome you to my show and hope you enjoy more of my talks! (Which reminds me … did you see my talk with Peggy, Mike’s mom? She’s quite something too!)

I agree with Mike Rowe. I was married for 20 years living in a expensive town wearing a diamond ring , wearing designer clothes. At 39 years old my husband overnight left me for another woman and took out all of our funds from our home, savings and rental real estate. Every dime and left me destitute. At the time I was very sick. A moved into my sister's dirt basement the state trained me for a mediocre job, as I had only worked for my husband and done homeschooling and daycare.I bought my 1st condemned house 2yrs later and Then four more homes. I didn't know I enjoyed refabbing houses. I didn't know I could do it. I just wanted a place to live. I've enjoyed all the hard work and not only that, now believe I can survive no matter what. Of course the Lord held my hand the whole way.

I had a talk with a friend decades ago, the message was: "When the fear of change is overcome by the pain of staying the same; you will change." Some don't reach, or are calloused to, the "pain" & don't, some are & do. Prudy simpol 😏

Hi Kim, glad you enjoyed it and I appreciate you sharing a comment. Peggy and John would be great - I actually really like that idea. Maybe a separate talk with each. Interesting idea. I think there are scores of teachers out there who have no idea how deeply they impacted their students’ lives. Great story

Hard not to admire and want to know someone who is so secure in their skin; but scary that these psople think that they would/could "make it happen" when they don't really know who they are. I find him fascinating and admirable, really would like to know him...but realize that I am probably NOT an O so his reaction would be to run instead of engaging in conversation. It's hell to be boring! LOL

PS so sorry about the stalkers. That totally sucks and is totally scary. So many sick people out there Mike. I mean it doesn't just happen to people on TV, it can literally be someone seeing someone on the street or someone you did work for or did work for you. I knew on women was stalked by another woman that was a co-worker. It was not a romantic thing, it was where the woman stalker did not like the woman I know and would call her and leave nasty messages, sometime of credit fraud and would run job opportunities, etc. really insidious shit.

Wow! the singing thing was all me. From the time I was 4 years old I wanted to be a singer and sang like crazy and wanted voice lessons at a young age before 13 years old, but back then teacher said I should wait till my voice settled when I was older. Well it never happened. Then I volunteered for chorus and after haveing to practice notes I learned I can follow the notes but after recording myself and then listening to the recording I realized I was totally tone deaf on lower notes! So after doing that I learned to correct myself and once I found the note it was like muscle memory on a song, but it was so much work. Then I realized, singing would not be my life's work. Dang. Then I was lost. So became a stage hand and thought I could be a sound engineer. Nope! I even got my elelctronics degree and discovered I can't figure out what the voltage and amps are at a specific part of a circuit. Loser again. So I fell into working for a bank for 30 years. Still not anywhere near being an executive and really don't want to be one. My success has been to learn to be content. I am artistic and very analytical and work in the technology area. So many people say how does that work? Well creativity comes in many forms and I wish people wouldn't try to pigon hole folks. So here I am 54 years old with blue and purple hair and tatoos and work in corporate america in the bible belt. So tell me how does that work? Well maybe that is my purpose, maybe to push the boundries and maybe help expand people's perciptions and this is OK with me.

I’m always tremendously curious about people’s personal lives and motivations. I have a daughter who is a therapist and a mother who experienced psychoanalysis in the 1940s. Or is it just a female tendency to want to know about people’s relationships?
