Wow, Mike really nailed it when commenting on kids. Yep, I've seen too many couples devolve into baby raising units. Also, the mother usually falls in love with the kids, especially if boys. This, not to the benefit of the husband. Strong couples(imo), live as Mike's parents. Kids are fun and cared for, but NOT the center of the universe. Kids need basic, not doting/smothering/helicopters.

for my family this was true about having "boys", the hoped for golden child........ugh. but that being said, many women do start this emotional incest bonding with their son (substitute husband) because they do not work on their marriage bond, leaving the husband out of the picture, no longer honoring him. look at all the stupid tv shows depicting how the "white" American male aka husband/father is a stupid idiot or boob (even top shows). very damaging. sorry, I digressed. not everyone needs to be married but as it says in the Bible, if you need to have sex, you need to do it within marriage.

I like Mike! 💕 Best guy since John Wayne... More young Men need to emulate themselves after this Manly Man - such a dying breed. A rare breed indeed! GOD BLESS 🌿💕🌿 Edit: I pulled a Travis McGee - and never held any regrets!! 👉 Why celebrate a Retirement when you're TOO OLD to have any fun?! Common Sense isn't Common, and far from it! What a total misnomer.

Kara, I was a bricklayer and Mike made me feel good about that choice even though I had to quit early, (age 55) I had a really interesting career and worked on a bunch of interesting job sites. Also, I started as an apprentice so that was my college education as it lasted 4 years. Mike makes all us tradesmen feel good about our choice. And we made money while we learned. Thanks Mike and thanks Kara for your interview. Greg

Did not like Kara question about cheating, mike answered it well, cheating in any environment takes away only from the person who commits the action and let’s the world know of how much of an idiot they truly are but the question was not needed, Kara with so much education, you are still such a girl, lol!

Yeah, he's definitely been interviewed by better interviewers. Her style of "putting words in your mouth" & 'my opinion's better, but...' is objectively annoying.

I'd marry Mike in a ❤ beat! We would def be Two-Peas-in-a-Pod haha! (Opposites, as in Magnets, dont attract in Human Beings, they repel) I stuttered too as a child - and now realize that all Geniuses have that affliction! Seems like the brain is so much faster than the tongue, & we really need that tongue to step-up & keep-up, thus the conflicting signals. Singing did help tremendously, as it most likely utilizes different spectrums of the brains sgnaling system....thats why survivors of Strokes find uniformity & relief in singing yet still cannot formulate words for speaking. Truly a Medical conundrum for a very long time. GOD BLESS 🌿💕🌿

I really appreciate and respect Mike very much, what a great interview. And I love what your dad said, because that's essentially how (but without directly saying so) we raised our sons. They're adults now, and I hope that that's how they treat their own spouses/children!

I dont think the average fan who thinks they know Mr. Rowe would assume he has not had a long term marriage or children. I also dont think they consider that his advice regarding the trades doesn’t actually come from working in the trades. These r down to Earth, common sense, working class families who would normally never respect advice from someone who has no experience in the advice they give. Can u imagine a farmer buying farm equipment from a fellow who has never farmed? Im a father & a skilled laborer, I was quite shocked to find out that the moment Mike shares about his grandfather took place in high school. Its extremely toxic for any adult (especially one the youth respects & idolizes) to tell a high school teen that they have proven to b a failure at their dream due to a poorly executed shop class project. Let alone telling young adults how they should embrace careers in the trades that he has not actually relied upon long term to earn that particular wage. It seems that Mike Rowe gains a lot of credibility because he looks like a Marlboro Man kind of billboard stereotype of masculinity while coming across in chat as an average working class guy….. But after a closer look, what we r really asked to do is as sensible as taking medical advice from a guy who isnt a doctor, but who played one on tv.

Why cant he just b honest? He preferred his career over being a husband or father. Instead he points to one woman in a long life. The point he makes ‘she wanted me to b a father before im even her husband’ (paraphrasing) is only a good reason as to why THAT particular person was not a good fit. Its far from a reasonable explanation as to why he never married or had kids. I have no issue with his choices, but b honest about those choices. This guy is a salesman, period.
