His voice is way higher than I would have guessed.

It sounds nothing like his speaking voice.

I have this one... Stewart Copeland on the drums!

I had this on cassette back in the 80's. I've been looking for it but never found it til now.

I read somewhere that this album its seems like Gabriel is singing in The Police....
@conradquek3 жыл бұрын
To be fair, Stewart Copeland was at the drums
@Yakkymania2 жыл бұрын
@@conradquek Stewart also is credited with percussion on a few songs on Gabriel’s album So which makes that statement even funnier
@IAmInfinitus2082 жыл бұрын
@@Yakkymania I think it was only hi-hat on Red Rain and all drums on Big Time on So.

I secretly like this song and other 2 songs from the album (and how he sings in the album) somehow, not sophisticated, not 'beautiful' in the ordinary way of sense, but 'touch' me anyway. Especially this song, Halfway There, and I Don't Think I Want To Know. I think they are good. I love to listen to them since it first came out in 1982/83 until now (oh how old I am) LOL

What's your opinion on Mike's "Making a Big Mistake" which he wrote for "Against All Odds"?

*Lyrics* If I step into the light And hold it in my hand Nothing left to see, Nothing left for me, anyway I feel the world is slipping Out of reach (I'm all alone) It's a memory It's a memory that used to be In a little while I know it'll be too late Somebody help me, please 'Cause you're acting very strange You're acting very strange You're acting very strange You're acting very strange Oh, you never come here any more You never even call To see if I'm alright Get me through the night Like you used to do In a little while I know it'll be too late Now I'm certain That you're acting very strange You're acting very strange You're acting very strange You're acting very strange Another lonely day without you, oh I'm acting very strange without you, oh Another lonely day without you, oh I'm acting very strange without you, oh Oh, the place is getting very hot I'm afraid to stay Something's going on Something's very wrong with you and me If I reach out to touch your face There's nothing there to touch It's a memory It's a memory of you and me In a little while I know it'll be too late Now I'm certain That you're acting very strange You're acting very strange You're acting very strange You're acting very strange I'm acting very strange without you, oh Another lonely day without you, oh I'm acting very strange without you, oh Another lonely day without you, oh You're acting very strange I'm acting very strange without you, oh

Why have people slated mike for his vocals?? OK he's not the greatest vocalist, but he's a good singer.

Mike certainly is not a 'singer' as we usually perceived, however, somehow, I like this album including how he sang in it. Stewart Copeland at his peak was also a strong chemistry to this album, more than a popular figure. For me, this is a Classic album. Sadly even Mike doesn't want to put this on digital streaming service like Spotify. My strange 80s memory comeback alive everytime I listen some songs in this album

Used to dislike this track (and generally the album) but at this late date I can warm up to it a bit - nice chords and cadences.

Crappy music of today will do that to a lot of mediocre albums of the past. 😉

Rutherford trying some new wave after prog, interesting.. The sounds on this song reminds me a bit of McCartney 2 that came out in 1980 I think.. Edit : I keep coming back to this song for some reasons there's something really interesting in its energy and it is quite strange and far from his other works Also I hate when people attack undeservly art but man what's up with this cover art :|

I like this song since i first heard. The best track of the album which is entirely not a big boom but likeable. Although it disappointed me after Smallcreep's day (but not Abacab...).

Dopo Smallcreep's Day album secondo me bellissimo poteva risparmiare di fare una schifezza così..... Inascoltabile. Mio modestissimo parere.

He's a very good pop songwriter. But he was, to say the least, a rough lead vocalist. He figured that out.

Actually this song is pretty damn good. Probably a bit too long for its substance. Someone should cover it.

The melody is actually pretty good ... he just needed someone else to sing instead of himself.

The music itself isn't bad but I think Mike's biggest mistake here was singing the songs himself.
