had same problem. fan blew up into millions pieces. although I have a LT155 they are pretty much the same. Only problem I had was with the snap ring. bought a tool but had to modify the points to fit. video very helpful and saved me money. john deere dealer wanted $75 just to look at it. thanks again.

Sweet, I have that to do this weekend. I'll be happy with an hour for me. Thanks for the video.

Thanks for the video, though. It made it really clear what basically needed to be done, and that even an engineer (me) can easily do it!

I just replaced my fan. It is not really necessary to remove the wheel, and I just removed the bracket and slid it forward out of the way. Total stuff to remove is one bolt and one snap ring.

The reason the belt got into the fan was because of the cheesy designed transaxle belt guide. The driver's side rod piece just slides up and down through a hole while the pax side is secured by a nut. Over time, the driver's side will push out of the hole and force the belt guide down which pushes the belt into the fan. Awful design. You can see it out of place at 2:16. Unless you put that side back in the hole and bend it up, you're gonna hear that noise again of the blades getting eaten up.
