„Stich für Stich“ does mean stitch by stitch, but more importantly in this context it means „trick by trick“. Trick-taking games are „Stich-Spiele“ in German. Thanks for all your awesome content!

Kings: Tricktakers is my favorite trick-taking game ever at this point in time. I am so glad I saw it when it was on Kickstarter and secured a copy. It really is a perfect blend of trick-taking and drafting. Absolutely love this game! Also, Shoutout to Tricky Time Crisis. Probably my second favorite this year. So much fun trying to short suit yourself on purpose sometimes because you don't want to get any more point cards and ruin your high total. Just the right number of special cards as well to keep things interesting each round. And lovely art by the wonderful Sai Beppu. ❤️

Have you played the original? How do they both compare?
@mightymax74718 ай бұрын
@lukewatson4489 I backed the recent KS for the original and Haggis. I have not played it yet but as I understand, Kings is a bit more complex with more thought going into the drafting portion of the game. Though both look to be equally as fun.

That hat is what the 'roetveegpiet' (/zwarte piet) are wearing on the 5th of December in the Netherlands. It's an an annual celebration here which looks a lot like Christmas. So we basically have 2 Christmases in december.

Loved the intro with you and Chris, Mike. Thanks for this and yes I do believe there has been a trick-taking renaissance. How do you think this renaissance started by the way? I'm thinking it was thanks to The Crew 1 and 2 perhaps (could be wrong)?
@michaeldilisio5578 ай бұрын
The Crew certainly played a role, but it’s hard to pinpoint it to a specific game.

You should check out The Barracks Emperors! It really shines as a 2v2 game. You're playing 13 simultaneous tricks on a chess-like grid. The winner of the trick is not who played the highest value card, but rather who is in the corresponding seat of the highest card spatially relative to the trick bring resolved (like the seat winds in mahjong)

Mike, do you have a preferred player count for Kings? The game claims it goes anywhere from 2-5 players. I've only gotten it to the table once with 5 and I suspect it would be better with 4 (and I can't imagine it being great with 2?)
