** It's now Mike's turn to take the swather over and show Ashtyn how its done! 😉🤣🤦 Not sure if he can school Ashtyn yet, but he sure will have fun trying 😂🤷🏻‍♂️
Ps: Mike does have a couple hundred hours on a swather, just for clarification... it's not his first rodeo but he does like to push Ashtyn's buttons 😉

Mike, I have been watching your videos for a while. I got a real kick out of this one. I am an old farm boy in my eighties now. I used to work on a farm in Manitoba late fifties early sixties. I haven't been on a tractor since. Stunning to see the change in farming. My GPS used to be a hydro pole or any other object on the horizon. Just keep your eyes on the pole and you get a reasonable straight line. No cabs! The only heat in the Fall was from the radiator when heading into the wind. Mike I hate to tell you but you can't beat Asthyn. Asthyn's eye and head movement is very controlled and efficient, she knows exactly what she has to look out for and she knows three hundred feet ahead what has to be done coming up. Your eye and head movement is all over the place and you don't know what is coming up 50 feet ahead of you :-). Precious to hear Asthyn giving you hints on what is coming up and where you screwed up. I hope you cherish the company of Asthyn. She is a treasure and I would expect nothing else from a girl who grew up on a dairy farm. I used to drive on weekends from Winnipeg to Saskatoon. Your farm must be just north of that main highway. Again I thoroughly enjoy your videos. All the best to both of you.

interesting little fact, Vale aka Inco in Sudbury conducted lots of test on women operating large equipment in their mines. When compared to men, women are much better operators of heavy equipment. it showed that women are more efficient when operating heavy equipment, and cause much less damage and also more productive. women are more meticulous, cause less wear and tear, reduce down time and care more about the equipment when completing tasks. though men were not considered to be reckless, they did find that men were harder on equipment, willing to leave product/ore in order to complete the tasks quicker. men do finish the job sooner, but the equipment is beat up, down time increased, and percent of ore left behind was also greater. this seems to be true in this video. ashtyn seemed very meticulous and efficient, had a set path and method and was aware and concerned about the equipment. Mike was quicker, willing to go "full jam" and appeared to be more concerned with completing the tasks / goals of the demo. I am not saying Mike did a bad job, he worked like most men work, with a get'r done attitude, while ashtyn had the same attitude, the methods of completing the task were not the same. all things considered equal, and both had to cut 10 fields exactly the same, mike would most likely finish much soon, but the equipment would have more wear and there would be more yield left behind. It would take ashtyn longer to cut the fields, but the equipment would have less wear and yields returned would be greater.

All of us who grew up in the 80s were stuck on a versatile 400 swather. And we ran it a lot, swathing was a necessity with large acreages and 1 or 2 combines, farming all small grains, no row crops. Bought us time and schedule. Boy did I get tired of the whaling 4 cylinder gas, I could not break it.

Comfort means a lot, but dependability and price mean more for many farmers as does resale value if need be. We have had md swathers now for around 8 yrs and the cabs have never been good imo but they do cut circles around other manufacturers, and the parts for md are found absolutely everywhere and for reasonable prices.
