Yes he is, my father also got to study under others greats such as Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich. I don't really have one favorite drummer I have tons. Buddy Rich, Gene Krupa, Keith Moon, John Bonham, Jo Jones, Benny Greb, JoJo Mayer, Joe Morello, Max Roach, Earl Palmer.

Yeah, and it's about 20 years off. I don't know where they got that! I listened to Halpern; he's a hell of a lot more creative than Terrana, with more chops. Halpern is a power drummer with more layers than Terrana - he's good, but not my cup of tea. Do a search for "Joe Morello - 1961 Drum Solo" on youtube.

There are lots of successful people with no talent, or little talent. They're called "one note Johnny's". That phrase fits Terrana to a "T". Sure, he can move his sticks around, and keep a beat that most 10-year-olds could mimic, but a great drummer? Give me a break!

Who's 62? You're off by two decades!! :) And, I have no problem with Terrana's fame; what I have a problem with is people calling him a "great" drummer, and his butchering of this great piece of music, for show. That's my opinion; I respect yours, otherwise.

Its a damn shame a 62 year old man isn't wiser. Yes we know there is better drummers, and he is not my favorite, he is famous for his persona and confidence for what he does. Comparing other drummers is great, but there not Terrana and Terrana is not them don't have to point that out. Terrana isn't the best because the 2 year old mentality of someone being better than others should die out already, everyone has there own thing they specialize in. And I attached to Matt Halpern enough said.

That's a great pedigree. I guess what annoys me most is that a lot of the "taste" has gone out of drumming; this is completely the fault of music producers dumbing-down the listening public. What gets me is not that Terrana does what he does, but that so many people think he's a great drummer. Ridiculous. He's good at what he does, but it ain't great! Anyway, I envy your indirect association with Morello, one of the best ever!

Anytime I see a video of this guy he just comes across as full of himself. Making the whole performance about him and drowning out the whole orchestra. Nevernind all the members playing a good piece of music. This guy is just gonna bang around all loud and cover them up and do stupid stick flips.

Why bother? Just go look at some Steve Gadd videos, or Gene Krupa, or Tony Williams, or Joe Morello, or Buddy Rich, or Philly Joe Jones, or Art Blakey, or Weckl, Wackerman, and Colaiuta. Seriously, Terrana may be successful, and he's probably a nice guy, but his drum skills are very elementary. It's a damned shame that so few know what really excellent drumming is. It's not pounding on a set of traps, or playing really fast, or spinning your sticks in the air - or butchering a great Italian aria
