Mike Tirico on Syracuse's place in a turbulent college sports scene and hosting the Paris Olympics

Mike Tirico of NBC Sports joins Brent Axe on the latest episode of Syracuse Sports.
Brent and Mike discuss the upcoming Paris Olympics and Mike's role as the primetime host for the fourth time. Tirico discusses what he's learned about being the host of the Olympic games from prior experience, getting to work with Snoop Dog, the role Paris will play in the games and how some other prominent SU alums will help shape NBC's coverage.
Brent and Mike also dive into Tirico's thoughts on Syracuse University's hiring of Fran Brown and how that will help Syracuse stabilize football and remain an attractive commodity should conference realignment shift again. Tirico also discusses the fine line college athletics is walking in terms of NIL and payments to student-athletes and how Syracuse can maintain the feel of college athletics in an environment that is shifting more and more to a professional sports feel.

College sports has always been about natural geographical rivalries and markets too small for professional sports. The people who want two super-conferences want to cut those out of the picture in favor of large TV markets where professional sports will always dominate.
