The fact that Tomlin continues to say Rudolph is confident calls out the other quarterbacks as not confident. You can see this throughout the offense, they're playing for Mason because they're confident in him as well.

Is it just me, or did Tomlin struggle to say Mason's name? He had NO problem naming Miles Jack, Rowe & Peterson, but referred to the "Quarterback position" several times. He clearly seems to have his favorites, and this situation is not one of them.

Tomlin absolutely refuses to compliment Mason on his actual SKILL level. Always says Mason is "confident in himself" and he is "prepared", then transitions quickly back to the team effort. It's too bad Mason will likely (once again) not be given a fair opportunity to compete for QB1 in the off season. Just assuming they will go right back to Pickett in the Fall. Regardless, Mason will be just fine wherever he ends up, and whatever he ends-up doing, football or otherwise.

I’d be shocked if they actually gave Mason a shot at completing with Kenny for QB1. They will most likely offer him a deal similar to Trubisky’s for QB2. If I were Mason’s agent, I’d tell him to hold for a place that gives him a shot to start.

I think the only thing that would keep Mason in Pittsburgh is a new, much higher dollar figure contract, that specifically states he will be given the opportunity to compete for QB1. Considering it appears that Tomlin has always had a problem with Mason, I don't see that happening though.

Yes the standard is mediocrity. I remember when the Browns would have a barely above .500 season and that was a big deal in Cleveland. Tomlin cares more about being in charge than winning games. He doesn’t care if we score 16 PPG, Matt Canada is an NFL quality OC. He doesn’t care if an entire city knows Mitch Trubisky is the wrong choice, he wants to be the guy who decides who plays… so we lose 3 games in a row that we should’ve been able to win with our eyes closed and scratching our asses. Hell, Tomlin wanted to take Brod Jones off the field when whatever bum was in front of him healed from injury. You aren’t ever going to have a successful franchise if every tiny decision that should be common sense turns into a power struggle with the potential to stop our season dead in its tracks. We need to bite the bullet and move on.
