What I felt more was that he pretty much said he wasn’t a true champion that that title belongs only to Ali because he wasn’t consumed by it all. To be one of the best of all time and still not call yourself a champion because of another just really shows how much Ali meant to Tyson.
@staffordgeduld7470
@staffordgeduld7470 5 жыл бұрын
@@AbdullahAli-ox6qq I wholeheartedly agree, yet would like to add something . It will always remain impossible to objectively decide whose the best between an essentially amateur era and a truly professional era. In natural talent cricketers from the Caribbean dominated cricket in the Clive Lloyd/ Viv Richards era but since the dawn of the professional era the Windies are playing catch up to Australia, South Africa , India, Pakistan and even Sri Lanka. This shows that natural talent only indicates potential for greatness that still needs to be actualized. Having said that I will say that Mike Tyson's brokenness and the natural aggression he had early in life contributed much to his underplaying his entitlement to be regarded as the best of them all. He seem to give himself much less credit than we will give him as he compares himself to Muhammed Ali who he obviously admires a lot. When he however does that comparison , these are the things other than boxing skills he unfortunately also throws into the mix: A. Control of income received from boxing. B. How he may have earned much more than Ali but had so little to show to the extent that he needed to fight well beyond the point when boxing became a burden to him and he was not well prepared for fights. C . How Mohammed was willing to sacrifice his career at its apex for the much bigger cause of essentially other people and love for others. D. That that sacrifice in the form of a 3 plus year layoff effectively took away from him many attributes that made him world champion such as speed, speed, speed he had in the early 60s. E.. That when he returned in 1970 and reclaimed the title in 1974, he did so with special emphasis on defense , a strong mind and impeccable strategy for his adversary. Speed overall played very little part. He reinvented himself. Even when Muhammed was fighting Parkinsons he evoked respect from the world. Mohammed was at all times giving to life and others. He did not consume. Not even when he struggled with Parkinsons. Without any comparible such impediment in life, Tyson on the contrary found it difficult to survive. He was consuming too much in order to survive. However, Mohammed was clearly thriving( even with Parkinsons) in Mike's mind( by comparison). His attitude , I believe was the cause of his respect for Mohammed Ali.

People are extremely disrespectful, laughing and talking while Mike is getting choked up. People like to say bad shit about Tyson but he's an extremely intelligent person and all of his anger and fury stems from people stealing from him and disrespecting him or taking cheap shots at him. My grandfather was friends with Cus D'Amato and Cus always spoke very very highly of Mike Tyson as a human being because he knew if it wasn't for the fact that Mike had grown up in a shitty area of brooklyn surrounded by crime, he would have made something different of his life because he was a very bright and loving child that no one gave a fucking chance to. Tyson gets very very emotional when talking about Ali, there hasn't been a time where ive seen him talk about Ali where he didn't get teary eyed or choked up.

I agree with you 100%. Tyson might not be the most eloquent or brilliant of speakers, I think he really tries his best make a crowd or audience laugh as a way to kinda make the people feel more relative or at ease, but people really underestimate Tyson, they dnt really knw that truth be told he's a very incredibly smart intelligent man. When he gets serious & behind talkin about life & the issues, adversities, hardships, headaches, hurts & pain that life brings; it's in those type of his speeches that causes the rim completely silent as he just speaks such deep knowledge & wisdom. He wears his heart on his sleeve, & is like a big teddy bear, a gentle giant. The way he looked up to Ali is the way so so many of us look to Mike Tyson.

+Reign Terror Yeah bro, listen I grew up in a family of fighters, my father (RIP) was once a top contender in Golden Gloves but the lure of selling these beautiful green plants with 5 leaves on em, selling anywhere from 60 to 80 pnds of this "plant", lol, a week; for him was much more appealing. It was the early & mid 80's bk when he lived that lifestyle so things were a lot different then they are today. By age 25 my dad had already accumulated a semi-mansion sitting on probably a hundred acres out in the country. He had all the toys is men love, like suped up modified muscle bound Hot Rods with chromed out engines, from Mustangs to Nova's to El Camino's...... dirtbikes, 4-wheelers, 3-wheelers, guns ranging from your typical hunting rifle &/or shotgun to your Dirty Harry heaters to semi-fully auto weapons. I'm trying not to glorify that lifestyle because it's a lifestyle I myself once participated in & now want nothing to do with it! It's all material possessions that will all one day perish along with our mortal bodies & we won't be taking anything from this life that we've stained or achieved along with us. I'm just giving ya a quick perspective on what took my father away from sometin he would hve no doubt excelled in. He died a very early & pre-mature life, at the young age of 50. Him & I were close & diff a lot together because our age difference wasn't that far apart. He & my mother both had me when they was only 15yrs old. Kids having kids. But his reputation proceeded him in that he knocked out every man he'd fight! Now my father was somewhat of a big guy, 6'1"/235-245pnds, but was incredibly strong & hands do big it looked like he already had boxing gloves on, lol. He was great with his hands & I accredit his ability to hve knocked out EVERY SINGLE GUY he had ever fought, to the boxing training received while am amateur fighter & Golden Gloves recognized top contender. But bro, we lived, ate, drank, breathed, slept, talked, walked & watched boxing 24/7 & honestly couldn't & didn't want to get away from it. I grew up in the era of Tyson slowly being ushered into the public eye until before you knew it Mike Tyson was a very well known household name. I remember him making history by becoming the youngest Heavyweight Champion in Professional Boxing. I watched as he made history by unifying all three titles. Watched as he made history yet again by knocking out an undefeated Mike Spinks, & that within 91 seconds in round #1, lol!!! I watched him be absolutely humiliated on live television in front of the whole world when Robin "Money Hungry" Givens made him out to be this monster woman abuser, then left him the next morning. Watched as Don "Greedy" King slowly slithered his manipulative slimeball trickery into Tyson's life, using Tyson's weaknesses which was women, as a means by which to control Mike. I watched as Don King convinced Tyson to say good bye to his long time trainer & close friend Kevin Rooney & replaced him for a corrupt, Pro-black, Anti-Christian, Pro Islamic fake entourage who cared nothing for Tyson as a human being but rather a cash cow that had the ability to generate millions apon million's of dollars that they would profit from. Sadly I watched as Tyson got beat for the first time in his career by a bum. Watched as he was accused of rape, which I believe were false accusations. It's no wonder the man became so full of rage & anger. He only wanted to be loved, but instead was used, falsely accused, talked bad about, media created him into this image of a monster who should be locked away from society. Called names, dealt daily in regards to lies of himself written in the tabloids. He didn't wanna box no more, he wanted to get into that ring & kill his opponent & I do not blame him!!! Tyson has got to be one of the most misunderstood person in human history. But I see, I discern & can read him & what I see is just a beautiful man, sometimes brutally honest, speaks his mind, an incredibly super smart individual, a humble more wise Tyson, a student of life & who's story is still being written. His is a success story, not an unfortunate sad one. Sorry for rambling bro, lol. Shows I really hve nothing to do today cause of the weather. God bless you my friend.

Mike is so real ,no fake at all .He tells you the story with much passion.What you see that s what you get..He told Holly field in so many times to stop head-butted him ,despite Hollyfield kept doing it ,that is why he ripped his ear off.Hollyfield is a disgrace to boxing ,whoever compares him to these 2 legends Ali and TYSON doesn't know crap in boxing

I commented long time ago that Holyfield used nasty tactics with headbutt to Mike first but referee was biased and didnt warn Holyfield at all till Mike had to do what he needed to do. Unfair and excessive punishment of Tyson for second fight with Evander.

Mike, stop putting your self down. Their are really important people in this world, who aren't half the man you are. You are a winner because not only did you become one of boxings' greatest, but you are a champion of adversity. You have beat the odds. Allow yourself to celebrate what you have become, and lay aside what you were.

What a sensetive man Tyson is, getting all chocked up just thinking about his idol. 4:54 Hes a very easy person to identify with, I find. We have all struggled, we have all been sad, we have all suffered as he has, but hes not afraid to show it. I have so musch respect for ALL these boxers that came from nothing. Its extremely hard to make something of yourself even if youre born into money, but when you come from nothing, when everyone is beating you down, trying to keep you poor and in your place, to not only succeed but to succeed so spectacularly is just amazing. Hes still a millionaire and hes also happy. Best of luck to him best of luck to them all.

Two of my all time favourites....Ali and Tyson. In their prime they were unbeatable. I watched all their fights. Tyson owned the ring and gave no quarter....he was so exciting to watch. Ali was a promoter. Without him there would not be the money or interest in boxing that there is today. He got people around the world to watch boxing...if only to see him lose...which was rare. He put the name World into world heavyweight champion.
