I boxed when I was a teen. There was a ring in the middle of a little stadium, with several fights one after another. My legs were shaking like never, mostly because it was in front of a lot of people, and other boxers too. But once you're in there, it's just you and your opponent. No shaking, no fear. Just going for the win !

People who are in line or in the same league as others being considered the goats of their respective fields of dominance or expertise don't go out of their way to duck and Dodge specific Challengers, competitors, or opponents while those Challengers, competitors or opponents are in the prime of their career. People who are truly worthy of goat status don't wait until Prime competitors are well past their Prime to challenge them.

Mike wasn't even his true self 2 or 3 fights before the Buster fight. The money, fame, absence of discipline he received from Cus, etc. It's not like he had poor trainers, but he became a different fighter: he changed. He turned into an angry head-hunter and that was not the ingredients that made the destroyer we all remember from his reign of terror.
