SaxJunkie LOOPS “Humbleness” is actually the noun form of Humble. Since humility denotes action, it wouldn’t have been accurate for Mike to utilize the word humility as he was suggesting that one didn’t particularly have it in this case hence “humbleness” characterizing the act of being humble, he was spot on as to suggest that it (in this case “Humbleness”) can be thrusted upon you then you can make the decision to exercise humility.

this was a great interview. Mike Tyson is one of the true icons for me and my generation. As a teen I was so excited by the hype and huge knockouts of the 80s. And in the 90s while Mike was struggling with defeat, drugs, rape conviction, etc. I had recently graduated high school and was struggling with becoming an adult and feeling defeat, struggling with insecurities. experimenting with drugs, drinking too much and getting in trouble. Its almost like he lived the very extreme version of my own life and the people I grew up with. He was always doing it one step ahead of us because he was a little older. He looks back on his own life and feels at peace and is humbled just as I am now. I hope everyone who was a teenage boy in 1985 cheering on Mike and his first rd KOs has grown up, made it thru those lost troubled years and found their place in the world and has peace in it. Thanks Mike.

It's interesting how many people comment on how wise or how humble Mike Tyson is. I like the guy but ultimately what's important is how you live your life not what you say. Talk is cheap. Tysons life is characterised by extremes, contradiction, confusion, addiction and chaos. It's what makes him interesting. We relate to what he is because it's present in us all, except in Mike it's magnified. He's mellowed in later years but the addict in him knows it could all be turned upside down in the morning so he's reluctant to say he's at peace. He needs to be on guard because if he becomes complacent he could wake up in the gutter.
@JGMP20108 жыл бұрын
Hater. No matter if you're Mike Tyson or not, your inner peace can be affected by whatever life brings around the corner, he was speaking in general, he wasn't warning us that it was possible he'd take drugs again, as he said earlier in the interview that giving in would be "losing life" and he doesn't "like losing life no more."
