I remember a time where Mike V came to Memphis a few years ago. Everyone was in such a good mood skating and having fun. I know they had a little competition going on, but after they gave out the prices and it was time to skate. Mike and the local guys were having one of the coolest sessions I've seen in person. Mike did some of his signature tricks and I remember he tried a drop about a dozen times and even cut his elbow, but once he landed it. It was pure excitement all around.

had the privilege to witness Vallely/ Lance Mountain/ R.Mullen demo in my hometown in Memphis- 198fukin8!!! Skaters came out of the woodworks to see these soon to be legends. I remember Vallely skating/ ripping everything!! He skated vert- killed it / he skated street - killed it!!! After the demo they signed autographs for every kid there and was mobbed like they were the Beatles!!!! Made this young skate rat whole year!!!!

skated sk8park tampa for a week back in 98 snapped my leg hanging up on the vert ramp. had a great time all week till that shit. Was cool seeing mike frazier kill the vert i was in awe.

apparently nike never thought the janoski would sell because of the design so they offered him a high number for royalties assuming they wouldn't have to pay it. when the janoski started selling like it did, nike got pissed and attempted to phase out the janoski pro model and make it just a nike team shoe so they wouldn't have to pay him his royalties

Man back in the day X Games was pretty awesome but after a few years and a bunch of changes it went to crap. But I must admit that it is wild to see how widely accepted skateboarding has become compared to back in the day thanks in part to X Games. There are skate parks almost everywhere now but back in the 80's and 90's we had to hit the streets and run from the cops. Also I still prefer yokes (what my buddies and I called the tiny skateboard wheels because they were about the size of an egg yoke).
