Mike Watt....one of my biggest inspirations to play bass. I saw him at the Casbah and talked to him for a while, then he said "Well, Laural, I'm sorry, but I gotta go take a piss!" Legend! Thank you so much for posting this!

Was this just this past November? I was there, took my son to his first 21-up show... He's also a big Minutemen listener

Mr. Watt is not only the most prolific bassist in in rock music but he is also one of the most down to earth and humblest music legends I have ever met. Every modern musician this side of punk rock was heavily influenced by Mike in some way or another. And you could tell by his guest list supporting band for the Ballhog or Tugboat album which came out around the time this 120 minutes aired. Who else could get Eddie Vedder to tour with him playing rhythm guitar and Dave Grohl on drums. And Pat Smear, the Kirkwoods from the Meat Puppets and others as they paid hommage to Watt from Pedro. You ever get a chance to see him live you'd be a fool to miss it. Thank you Mike for not throwing in the thunderbroom after losing D. Boon your best friend and bandmate. Thank you for turning me on to B.O.C. before a fIREHOSE gig and thank you for the lift hime from Nitas in Tempe and letting me sit upfront in the Econo. Mucho love and respect to Mr. Watt. HE'S CHARGED HE'S A DARTBOARD HIS SEX IS DISEASED HE'S A STOP SIGN!

Now THAT, my friends, is the proper flannel shirt. Note that the pocket design is "off" and oriented differently from the rest of the design. We firehose diehards in the late 1980s were obsessive about this detail. Yes, it's ridiculous.

Elmo Blatch please explain so that I may have a better understanding of the flannel

Is that how grunge adopted that look from Watt?

Markus Antonio It’s definitely his signature... my guess is that he started it.... he was certainly a major influence to the masters of grunge

Throwing shade at Kajagoogoo is my favorite part. Thing is, he knew full well how to pronounce it and probably liked the band b/c if you go back and watch "Too Shy" that song is built on a killer, killer bass line. That dude could play. Would love to see Watt & Co cover it. Or join them on stage at some 80s bacchanalia.
