I played with Mike in Philly,99 or 2000,we did Groovies,Loose Gravel and Charlatans songs as well as some unreleased stuff. It was interesting to say the least. We recorded some studio stuff with Mike too. Mike is out of his Skull!!! I mean that in the nicest way possible. Hahaha

I also love the Dead version of this song its real flash and brash but here he captures a real gritty quality that's in the subject matter. I heard also, in a Judy Collins interview (I think), she says Phillips can't remember writing the song he was drunk on tequila or summit. Thanks again for a great post. Life in London is enriched.

Michael Passed Away Earlier With Ana Maria At His Side. Sending A Last Goodbye, "Much Love And Respect", From The Oakland Hells Angels ©... ~WHATS GOING ON ~ Michael Wilhelm..Has Had Cancer For Quite a While.He was having a Bad Reaction to the Chemo. And Could no longer Stand up.The VA doctors Told His Wife Ana Maria .To Bring him in to the San Francisco VA..She Brought Him in May 1,2019.. They Put Him in Hospice there at the VA. His Wife Ana Maria. Has been with him the whole time.. I talked to her on the phone for about an hour..Sat..5.11.19. She told me Michael Has Not Eaten or drank anything since the Sunday Before..May 5th.He's on Heavy Drugs..So He's Not in Pain..But its Just a Matter of time Before his Body Winds Down and He Leaves us..Let's Celebrate The Great Man & Musician Michael Wilhelm is.was & Always will be..He Blazed the Trails.. Set the Styles..a lot of his music will always be up on youtube for the younguns to learn from. He gave us all he had..left it all on the floor.. So now its up to you.all you young musicians..
