I've returned from the year 2379 A.D. The solo you are referring to is The World Soundtrack aptly titled, "Supreme Hope By Buckethead." It plays through our inner-ear speakers every morning and any time we rock out. Rock has made a huge comeback due to Buckethead and his son, "Pailface." Yes, they are human/robot hybrids.

@johnulcer3 жыл бұрын
Maybe on a technical level, but Bucket has been writing music for decades now, and has yet to come close to producing a single song as successful as most of Slash's material. This isn't a knock against Bucket. I'm a fan. But he's more of a technical and avant-garde guitarist, and comparing him to Slash is like comparing Frank Zappa to Eric Clapton or something. It's just a whole different mindset and approach to the music. Buckethead is very talented at guitar and could probably play circles around Slash in terms of scales and obscure jazz chords, but Slash has such a signature, unmistakable sound and identity that unfortunately Bucket just doesn't have. And Bucket produces a lot of wandering jam tracks (which I dig as background music) but he doesn't have a single riff that the general public would recognize in the same way that Slash does. You can get into the weeds on whether mainstream success equals quality and vice versa, but ultimately Buckethead will not go down in history books the way Slash has. That being said I love the guy and really admire his skill. I think the solo for "There Was a Time" is one of the best of all-time. But people get so hung up on "Slash doesn't know theory!" and it's like yeah, but did Bucket write a song half as memorable as Welcome to the Jungle or Sweet Child? It's just not a comparison imo.

Man no matter what anybody says about this "Slash has more emotion" bullshit he doesn't. All the stuff you guys hear of Buckethead are all of his shredding songs. Buckethead has over 900 songs and over 200 of them are more emotional than all of Slash's solos and have a "bendy blues feel" whatever that means. Slash's only "emotions" come from all the drugs he does. Buckethead has studied music, did his homework, knows the theory and truly knows how to play with emotion along with multiple other genres. All you Buckethead haters, PLEASE go search up his emotional songs. There's an 8 hour playlist on KZbin. You won't be disappointed.

He can play styles like Slash, he can play styles like Paul Gilbert, John Petrucci, Van Halen. He's the biggest innovator in the Avant Garde genre. He's badass. Don't get me wrong, I love Slash but I don't see how people think he's more talented at guitar. I feel Bucket deserves more respect because you can tell how much he practices. BTW Sweet Child of Mine (great song) was written because Slash was "Fucking around". I can't really respect that but whatever
