This isn't the sort of music I tend to listen to......but I really might need to dig into this particular artist's work. Because this song is just beyond gorgeous and calming to my very soul. I'm already a huge huge Aurora fan....but Sondre is new to me. I love how subtle and tastefully jazzy this is. All sorts of super cool musical moments. Especially that descending pizzicato motif at 3:42. That moment legit sent chills up my spine....

This is a short song if you listen to Sondre's music :-) Sondre said: "This song is perhaps the most patient of all the Patience-songs I juggled during the recording of the album. But the song felt so overwhelming and heavy that I never managed to record it. I had also always heard another voice sing it inside me, and suddenly AURORA's voice began to appear in my head when I was out jogging. Her own "Exist For Love" is one of my favorite songs this year, and I felt a vague kinship between these two songs. I told her about the text, and topics such as lust, love and dementia. What the body and heart remember when memory slowly pulverized. And he who remains and mourns and can not forget. It seems that most people have experience with dementia in close family in our time. Two weeks ago I asked AURORA if she would sing "Alone In The Night" with me and she immediately said yes. A week ago we recorded it. AURORA lifts the song far beyond my most hopeful hopes. She holds one absolutely exceptional musicality, a precision and a presence that really touches me."

Thanks for the reaction, a wonderful song/duet and introduction to Sondre Lerche. - - - “Sondre Lerche: Alone in the Night was the first recording I did for the Avatars of Love album. It put everything in motion, and surprised me greatly. I heard AURORA's voice singing it in my mind one day when I was out running in the sun. So I asked her if she'd sing it with me. It felt extra special, because I had just returned home to Bergen after 15 years of living in the US. And she was one of the first to greet me there. It's a song about what happens to our bodies and souls when we fall in love, and then again through the passage of time, when we age and die. It's ultimately about our memories and dementia. How frail we really are, and how heartless the process of aging can be to lovers.” - - - Aurora’s voice often reveals (for lack of a better word) different textures and nuances. Her recent “Golden” cover is interesting. I’d recommend checking that out. Also Sigrid’s Watermelon Sugar for another Harry Styles cover. :)

Thank you for reacting to this beautiful, yet sad love song. I agree with Ginger in that pace and length of the song are perfect, even more so because it touches the topic of dementia/Alzheimer. So it is about love, but also about merciless of time, and the fear of forgetting: "Will we awake and love move on?", "Our memories slip through the hands of time". Btw. do you know the beautiful version of Nicole Kidman and Robin Willams of "Somethin' Stupid"?

Sondre has been living in Brooklyn last 15 years, done much of his studio work in LA, several film scores and tunes too.
