I wonder if its legal, as Japan’s constitution states that no military equipment can be exported. I guess under Abe’s administration some of the laws have been eased to allow export of anything but firearms.
@FST606 Жыл бұрын
@@dannyzero692 The export of lethal weapons and ammunition owned by JSDF to other countries is prohibited under Article 116 of the Self-Defense Forces Law. However, this article permits the export of other equipment, and helmets fall into this category. On the other hand, apart from that, the "Three Principles on the Transfer of Defense Equipment," a guideline adopted by the government, comprehensively regulates the transfer of equipment to parties to a conflict. However, one of the conditions for a "Party to a Conflict" as defined by the guideline is "a country with which the UN Security Council is taking action," so technically, Ukraine is not a "Party to a Conflict,". So the government's position is that the export of the helmets does not deviate from the guideline. In any case, this is a guideline, not a law, so it is not illegal for the government to ignore that in the extreme.

When the PASGT came out it was noted for its resemblance to the Stahlhelm. The Generals stated that it’s purely coincidental. Based on engineering principles this design gives the most protection for the least weight. After that the order went out to scrim the helmets to break the outline.

Long story short is that it’s convergence, the Germans designed a helmet that would protect as much of the head as possible without being in the way, the Americans when designing the pasgt helmet ( which most of these are copies of) used the same philosophy, and all human heads are roughly the same shape so they inadvertently made helmets in the same shape,

Most people don't even consider that the Stahlhelme in WW1 and 2 sucked ass in the prone position. That's why on most modern (PASGT CLONES according to all these "experts") helmets, there's that significant upward dip in the back. Still not perfect, but a hell of a lot better than the former.
