Just got the same kit, but for a Honda 2200 Jenny, no instructions, your video gave good in site, I think you did a fine job, I work on boilers, turbines , natural gas, fuel gas etc, but one thing that you can check is that you are getting around 10 inches water column of gas pressure at the inlet of the diaphragm, this is where your connection is, while the motor is running, using the choke is cutting back airflow, suggesting not enough gas is available, this in part will rob you of horsepower and power output, most homes have 10 to 14 inches water column, most gas appliances are set at 3.5 inches, that is where pipe size comes in, if you know a heating guy, have him check it out, he will be able to make adjustments for you, best of luck.

Hello, so how many psi would that convert to? I have 4 psi at the kit's inlet coming from a 3/8 hose and still wouldn't run well unless I almost completely choke it, and still rpms are not as high as they should be. :(

you also need to adjust the governor to get your RPM's to 3,600 for proper voltage and frequency output

Great video. Looking to add a natural gas generator to the house and this video showed how to do it. Hated to see the loss of the Eagles Rare at the end. Bummer!

Mark all your breakers you need to use with the generator with colored tape or paint, turn them ALL off when you switch to the generator, then turn the marked breakers on one at a time.

That's one way to use Bourbon.... to cover up the gasoline spill from earlier. :) Good video. You need to adjust the screw inside the orange knob. CW goes lean and CCW goes rich. I think that it may be too lean, that's why it's stalling when you open up the choke.

Thanks. Right after this, eagle rare went crazy scarce unless you pay stupid markup prices. Good points on the settings. I have used it a few times and kinda got a feel for it. Since you can adjust like a normal carb, I figured out that moving the knob more to LP until it warms up worked. I just bought a new champion generator so stay tuned to an updated video.

Make sure your gasoline petcock is OFF so you don't get too much air in. If the fuel tank is empty it will draw air through the fuel line. You shouldn't have to run with the choke on.

Thanks. I will check this. I am due to pull it out for a test run.

I ordered a Honda knock off carb with LP like yours but I'm going to adapt it to run a Techumseh 10hp generator so I'll need an adapter plate and a new governor link wire.

Great videos, I appreciate them!!! I have an almost identical set-up, same generator, same type amazon carb, running on natural gas. Mine doesn't start as easy on natural gas as it does gasoline & I think it'll be worse in the winter. Have you tried starting on gasoline & once it has warmed up, shutting off the fuel/gasoline valve, then turning on the natural gas? I'm sure it would work fine to let it completely run out of gasoline & die, then turn on the natural gas & re-start, but I'm curious if it would safely switch itself over when the gasoline runs out without having to re-start?

When it’s really cold out that would be the best way to do it.

have you managed to find a way to reliably start it off propane or natural gas? I did basically the same setup on my generator and only got it started once off propane. had heck of a time pulled like 100x. Starts right up off gasoline. For propane I have a new bbq grill regulator.

Put the same conversion kit on my NEW Champion 4550/3650 generator which has never been run. With a GASPRO 10FT Two Stage Propane Regulator with hose, RV Propane Regulator hose with Standard P.O.L. Connection and 3/8in Female,fit for RV Appliance, grill, fire pit, Gas Generator, Gas Stove/Range and More. But it will not start up. does anyone know what I can do to get it running.

Is the small brass adjustment screw for gas?
@RogueOntheRoad4 жыл бұрын
Your choke issue might be because the regulator is for "compressed" natural gas which has a higher pressure. If you had a natural gas compressor and tank it might work normal.
@felixmikkialmosttoasted3911Ай бұрын
An unregulated Propane tank will have a higher pressure. Because his NG is after the meter is now down to 11oz. You are right compressed NG does have a higher pressure but that is in the distribution lines not residential-less or individual house- even less again.

Just FYI your generator is 4,000 watts ‘SURGE’ and then it says 3,500 running watts. You stated in your video about running 120 v instead of 120/240 . And that gives you 4,000 watts at 120. However that’s not the case. You are only getting 120volts of the 3500 and that’s INLY if your running to the full 3,500! Watts if it were 4000 that means you’re maxing it out all the 4000 constantly which would end up hurting the machine... to sum up you’re only using up to 3500 watts not 4000 plus natural gas will decrease the amount of power out put by at least 15% give or take. So actually your out put would be 3500 minus 15 percent is 2,975 watts is the approximate wattage.

My condolences on the bourbon. I have the same issue with running my Champion generator at half choke. Did you ever get it straightened out?
@ShutterFanatic4 жыл бұрын
Yes, I bought another bottle lol. The generator is working good. Sometimes it runs a bit rough at the beginning and I adjust the flow but mostly I just leave as is. I don’t run it much as it’s my emergency backup generator.

You're explanation of 120v ans 240v do not apply. If you're in the US, you appliances will be 120v. So DO NOT switch over to 240v otherwise you'll blow everything.
@ShutterFanatic Жыл бұрын
For 240v you have to use the other plug which has another wire. Our panels have 2 120s coming in with a zigzag on the breaker so that you can connect 2 for 220. Our bigger appliances are 220 but in the area I am at, most of out energy hogs are NG.
@30roundclipazine79 Жыл бұрын
Our residential load panels use 240 volts the are out of phase with each other by 180 degrees with a neutral tap in the center of the Edison transformer this is called split phase. This is how we have 240 volt appliances and 120v. 120v is achieved with either hot leg in the breaker panel and a neutral wire that runs to ground. All 240volt appliances must use a leg from each side of the bus bar where the 240volts are 180 degrees out of phase with each other. Pulling two hot wires from the same leg would simply cancel that voltage out.

You need to add a regulator to get the full power out of your generator and not have to half choke it.

There's a regulator built in to the carburetor that he installed. I think you missed its distinctive pancake shape.
