We’ve had a Trailblazer for 7 years now and we hope that thing runs forever. This is the most “fun to drive” vehicle I’ve ever owned and other owners have said the same thing. GM just got everything right when they built these. Not to mention, I absolutely love the sound and feel of that straight 6.

Consider this used Subarus cost much more than usually give head gasket problems around 150000! You would not believe what it cost to get those fixed. The 4.2 inline 6 is pretty much Bulletproof, Transmissions give problems because people don't change the fluid.
@RetroCaptain Жыл бұрын
The 4 speed tends to get higher temperatures in typical city driving (which ruins the fluid earlier which later on the internal rubber pressure seals are "cooked" in the hot and ruined fluid. Once this happens they tend to lose "3rd gear". Baked pressure seal allows the clutches to burn up. This problem exists in all the RWD GM series. Sierra Astro Express Trailblazer etc

I bought my first generation blue Chevy Trailblazer LS in 2001 but is was the 2002 first and 20-years later is still looking good and running fairly well. Love this SUV. It has 179K with all originals with very little replacements parts with standard maintenance. It was the best buy ever for a single educator on a budget with sophisticated taste for a smooth ride, nice look and great on gas. What a blessing from God! Thank you, Lord for letting me pay it off over 16- years ago. A great car! A great buy for the money! I love driving it as much as my Chevy Avalanche 😇😇😇😇😇

My daily driver is a 2008 Trailblazer 4x4 LT. It's got 195k miles on it and it runs great! I keep it nice, upgraded the radio/speakers, and just left the rest stock. The I6 motor is smooooth! When I first got it, I legit wondered if the engine died at stop light because it was that smooth and quiet. I'm really hoping to keep it going for another ~7 years or so. My steering is much sharper than what's shown in the video, so not sure what's up with that. Maybe that particular one has some worn components or needs an alignment?

Im on my 2nd trailblazer, both being the 05 LS....the 2nd one was owned by one of those types that think since it comes with oil u never have to change it ...it was running on 3 of the 6 cylinders and needed a lot of attention when I bought it...the body was perfect though...after doing some work..coils, vvt solenoid and can positioning sensor and several oil changes to clean out the crap she runs great...I’ve put 45,000 hard miles on her and yes a lot of work such as water pump twice and cleaning throttle body etc...I know it’ll keep me on the road for along time..the engine still runs strong at 200,000 miles although the electronic everything has a hard time in the cold cold weather we get in the Midwest...I’ve replaced the entire front end on her after an accident that she survived somehow...the frame on these things are solid...it has the horsepower at take off and also plenty to tow...I’ve towed some heavy hauls at it’s max of 6,000lbs on the interstate and it handled it like a champ...they’re cheaply made but all around it’s a good truck and what I like about it...easy to work on...the front end steering knuckle etc is something else...the size with the upper ball joint located above the tire prevents the thing from having bigger tires on it but u can turn on a dime...I don’t like the lug size being an oddball making time replacement difficult and expensive...it’s stupid that chevy did that..

How Chevy transformed the Trailblazer from this to a subcompact crossover with two three cylinder engine options is mind blowing...not in a good way.
@PatrickCrossfire.7 ай бұрын
Have a 2005 LTZ down here in Ecuador. Had 2" lift kit installed. Has 128k on it. Runs smooth as glass. Very quiet. Roomy. Powerful engine. Very heavy guage chassis under the body. Feels heavy and solid. Interior plastic is so so. I recommend a 2006 or 2007 as they come with larger brakes(needed) and an upgraded engine via improved head design. The Traverse which replaced them in 2010 are inferior machines from what I here as they went to a 3.6 liter V-6 which had design flaws. In my opinion they are superb in what you get for the money. Nothing else compares in their price range.

There are so many bad comments about the trailblazer like people say they are a p.o.s but I strongly disagree I have one and if they are so bad then how do basically all of them make it past 200-250k miles and still run strong mine only has 129k miles on it but she still runs very good I even saw a trailblazer with 451k miles and it had the original motor and transmission
@christopherzube5513 жыл бұрын
Alot of times it's because they don't have the money to keep it maintained or bought it Frome someone who didn't maintain it. It takes alot to blow a head gasket on them. But some 2002 4.2 motors had trouble with cylinder sleeves and also some had their exhaust manifold crack on them. In 2004 they changed the oil pump seal due to people loosing oil pressure and was a big issue. It wasn't a recall and if you wanted it to be replaced you had to pay for it and if you have awd or 4wd it can be costly since the axles go through the oil pan. And the fan clutch as well we're very well prone to failure. Up until 2007 they had electroviscous clutch fans then changed it to thermal clutch fans. Had to change mine 5 times then got done with it and sent pcm to a tune shop and threw in a thermal clutch fans which is cheaper. New electroviscous clutch fans are 200 on Rock Auto, and Hayden thermal clutch fans are 50 on amazon

The frames are really solid. They seriously made a great frame for this style. If you get in a accident they can really take a hit. But the biggest problem was the rear air suspension. The ride was phenomenal but after replacing 4 airbags I just got the coils. And the air injector on models 2006 and up always had problems. But otherwise solid vehicles for cheap

@@dmitriyplaksin5272 I would highly recommend coil springs if you are having issues with the airbags retaining air. Pretty simple to put in as well. Some of your info is wrong. You could get a 5.3 V8 in the short wheelbase. The 4.2 I6 motors had 291hp in the later years and did 0 to 60 in the 8 second range You could get them in 2wd and 4wd. The SS came in AWD
@christopherzube5513 жыл бұрын
I believe from 2002 to 2005 it was like 275hp and then they changed the heads 2006 and up and the crank as well. The difference in hp from the 4.2 and 5.3 were not that far apart in my opinion and plus the 4.2 was one of gms best motors made in my opinion. Also alot of the awd were the Buick Rainier's and olds bravada however I haven't seen many isuzu ascenders around alot. But I'd prefer the rwd since it's cheaper and easier to maintain.

I was thinking the same darn thing. I know the Buick rainier and oldsmobile bravada had the awd but the trailblazers I've seen are either rwd or 4wd. I'd still pick the rwd because of the axle shafts going through the oil pan. Dropping the oil pan can be a pain with 4wd.
