Being a natural-born klutz, I often knock things over. I have found that a straight sided container is somewhat more stable and that weighting the container with the glass marbles they sell for flower arrangements - or even gravel from the driveway - helps a lot. That was a fun and educational project - thanks for sharing.

When you started using your heat tool to dry the paint, I kept thinking No,no,no!!! You'll blow away the Luscious powder!!!! Aughhhhh! So glad it stayed put, that stuff looks pricey! And also when I used to do castings I was taught to fill the mold halfway, give it a tap, then fill to full... Just sayin. Thanks Mike for letting us play alongside. Best, Donna

I know this is an old video BUT I just figured out I'm highly allergic to resin. I bought some plaster of Paris today to try to play with and I found this video as a how to.... OMG, it made me SO hopeful that I can still create and play! Thank you 💚

Also for the pigment powder coming away you could always use an acrylic clear spray lacquer to seal it

Thank you for posting this video. I was about to make an entire frame with mica and plaster but now I will just make it with the plaster and paint it afterwards with the powder and water!

Oh yes. Love this. I used to play with plaster of paris as a child with a soft floppy mould. Not nearly as high tech as it is now.

Just popping back to re watch this video because I haven't used Plaster of Paris since the late 1970's when we used to fill old mousse pots that had different designs in the bottom. We were only kids so my uncle made them & we painted them. Now I'm playing with air drying clay & have some plaster & wanted to check back in to see what you discovered. Was fun to watch 😊❤👻

What fun, Mike! I loved the gold cherub and the bronze skull, what a shame the pigment isn't permanent but metallic acrylic paint would do the job wouldn't it. I don't have many moulds as yet but I think I need to either stock up or maybe try that reusable mould making silicone (the one you melt in the microwave) and have some fun. Thanks for sharing your experiment with us...what a fun way to while away a few hours on a Sunday :). Bejay xx

Oh I wish these Lucious powders were available in Holland, same with the Indigo Blu paints. Would love to try it but from Indigo Blu we just have some stamps and stencils available here as far as I know. These turned out great!

I've just spoken to IndigoBlu and they do ship to Holland and they use a sliding scale for postage..which I think is quite reasonable...it may be worth your while having a look!

Thanks for the respons Mike. And you are completely right, the shipping costs to Holland are indeed very reasonable. Just the other day I placed an order and found out that shipping costs were about 7 Britisch Pounds. That's not much at all! For some reason I thought shipping costs would be very expensive, but I'm very happy to learn that it's actually not. Thanks!

Could you use liquid pigment in the plaster also could you paint the mold with dry mica I’ve done it with resin but never tried it in plaster 🤔

We have the same cherub moulds, in fact we'll be bringing some of the casts out with us to shows to add to our product range! Have you tried using a method similar to cold casting and dusting the mould with the powders first? And have you tried vibrating the moulds to help the air bubbles free up? A tin tray and eccentric weight on an electric motor should do it.

I didn't try dusting, that's a good idea to try! If you're bringing your casts, I may just buy those rather than make my own..lol Ian says he's not letting me near anything that vibrates so I'll just have to use a hot air gun to draw out the bubbles! XO

Hi. If you sprinkle the plaster powder to the water instead of making a paste you’ll get a lot less bubbles, lumps and cracks. Hope this helps for next time. I’ve only recently come across your stuff and I’m making my way through it all.

I have several silicone molds thst i have been using both sculpey clay and air dried paper clay, i have a box of plaster of Paris around here im going to have to try out... love the cherbs and the skull!!! TFS... i was just wondering 2 things...is there something you can treat the mould with so it slips out and i wonder if the none expanding foam used as caulking would work....hmmmm... im iff to experiment...love your idess!!!♡♡♡♡♡♡

Please share your finding with the expanding caulk!! You could use a release spray on the mould but to be honest the silicone ones don't really need it! XO

So Cool... LOVE The Skull & of Coarse The Angels :) Years ago I was a total Freak in doing Plaster Elements( I used them in my Folk Art, I even made my own Grapevine wreaths)...But I used a Product by Plaid called "Faster Plaster"...it has a plastic element in it and it's much sturdier & durable then Plaster Paris. 20 plus years ago there wasn't silicon molds....mine where hard Plastic ( I Have a TON of Molds ) some from Plaid, Most are Candy Molds. Candy Molds are a Great source when you are counting Pennies. Have to check with Plaid to see if they still sell the "Faster Plaster". TYFS Mike, Now you got me wanting to Crack-open my stash. Hubby will just say" OMG, Not Again..." But this Time I can say Mike made me do it...LOL...Love you a Big Much XOXOXOXO Awesome Demo !!!

What will you use those lovelies for? Am thinking in terms of gluing 2 of them together back to back with cord inside perhaps for holidays from chandeliers i.e. valentines , etc. could they be sealed to save beautiful coloring ? Enjoyed your vid. Thnx👍

As Jolanda says it's a pretty in holland indigo blue isn't available....... any way. I was wondering why you mixed the plaster with a pigment as you where painting the moldes afterwards ?

I painted after the mixture didn't work as expected..painting them wasn't the idea behind the experiment. Mixing the luscious powders to see the result was my original intention. XO

Love the results you got with the powders, Mike; but like "cat yeah" I am wondering if you can't use some kind of varnish or spray sealant of some kind? Have you tried that yet? Would it still affect the finish like wet hands would have? I've been wanting to try to make my own molds, and am definitely inspired by how your skull and cherub have come out!!! I may just have to order those powders! TFS! ~tina
