Thank you for this. When I was younger, an art teacher told me I was doing it "wrong" when we were supposed to create something from listening to a piece of music. How could my imagination be wrong? We each make art that speaks to us, and that is what is important. These techniques are useful to have in our bag of tricks, to use or not, as it pleases us. Always glad to add to skills and techniques.

Outstanding video. EVERY thing I ever wondered you answered in a perfect way. I loved the look of all your pages. You are a wonderful artist and truly inspiring. I subscribed and liked the video. Thanks for taking the time to make this video and for having it so organized and easy to follow.
@chuckkolb12708 жыл бұрын
Bravo! I found myself mentally applauding this superb instruction/informational video. The organization, the presentation leads me to regard you as a natural born teacher. Your preliminary remarks and repeated as ending comments that art journaling is PERSONAL are so important. These two statements struck me: enough is never enough until you are happy with the page and ....smile sweetly and say but you didn't because its mine and I did. Utilizing your journal pages to illustrate your design elements were well chosen also showing us viewers the transition, the range of your creativity. Personally I really liked the pages with the white spaces and those with photo-collage. I am starting to meet with a small group that enjoys art journaling. Definitely I will share these design elements and reference to this video. Oh, no, what happened to the facial hair. As I have sported some kind of mustache and/or beard for decades, I am partial to it. Another personal choice.
@MikeDeakinArt8 жыл бұрын
+Chuck Kolb Hey Chuck, I'd never grown facial hair that long before and I was surprised at how itchy it was...I don't know how people cope, but then again I suppose it's like learning to wear a ring....you just get used to it after a while! I may have another go later in the year. Hope you're having fun at your group! I wish I was close enough to pop in and join you.

I'm killing time watching your older videos. This one has been a favorite so far. I must have learned rule if thirds at some point in my life. I was looking at some things I've done and 3/4 of them follow this rule. I slowed video down when you were flipping through a journal looking for a particular page so I could see the pages you were going past. Now I'm going to go see if you have any flip throughs.
