In this video I string together a few drill press projects. First is a 4 drawer storage cabinet on casters. I show a handful or cabinet making pro tips including but not limited too; how I install drawer slides with a high level of precision. I also show how I make a sturdy fence that attaches to a simple drill press table and a neat magnetic work stop. Veering from the main focus of the video, I go over how I alter a CMT cabinet door boring jig for more awesomeness. Finally, I show two different ways to store drill bits.

I think this is state-of-the-art cabinet making for today. No steps missed, no corners cut. If you are new to the craft and wondering how to make a cabinet, follow these processes, and techniques as closely (within reason) as you can. Thanks Mike.

First i think you need all the tools this guys have.. to get it right you see it. With basic tools it is kinda hard to get results like this. So if you are "new" to the "craft".. info in this video is excelent.. but you will never have the same results with basic tools.

Great presentation, and I really like to see the "shop apprentice" at work and enjoying himself while helping Daddy. The drill press storage cabinet was a great build, and I appreciate the time you took to explain in detail how and why you did each step the way you did it. The accessory table for cutting hinge holes is a great idea, and I can see how that would really help on projects with multiple hinged doors that need to be made consistently and quickly.

@MikeFarrington
@MikeFarrington 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I bought this jig because setting up the boring machine for one offs took too long, this one I just work to a pencil line. I also wanted the ability to be able to drill for different hinge brands. After using this jig, I decided to sell the boring machine. I only used it a couple times a month, the rest of the time it was just taking up space.

@@MikeFarrington will you be getting rid of your blum? Side question, the tall bench dogs you have that raise the track for the track was. Did you have your "hobbiest" machinest neight make them or did you purchase them? If you purchased them where did you get them? Ive built a Paulk bench and those would cone in handy with holding my track saw

@@benborsa8266 I already did. After using this jig a couple times I sold the Blum Minipress. The bench dogs were from TSO products. They have a bunch of different dogs to pick from.

Thanks for the caster tip. I have not been happy with the last few iterations of casters I've found at lately. And I gotta get a drill press. Maybe then I might be able to drill like a 4-year-old. Only problem with that plan is that it's Yet Another cabinet/base/tool stand I gotta build. My mitre saw is still waiting... I like the slide/swoop/not-jump video cuts, whatever they're called. Upping your vid game, I see. And I detected a bit more thought put into the writing, too. Props all around!

Thank you. Yes, those casters are really great. They hold steady when locked. Thank you for noticing, I have been trying to up my video game.

@@MikeFarrington I think I remember the expression from an old live radio show called "The Prairie Home Companion," with Garrison Keillor. Dude was homespun hilarious. He closed every opening monologue with, "That's the news from Lake Woebgon, where the women are strong, the men are good-looking, and the children are above average."
Bench grinder, storage cabinet, and lots of jigs.
