Really appreciate the shop tour! Nice to see what a pro shop looks like. And respect how you acknowledge your wife’s support.

Do you charge by the job....or by the hour? I have a project I want done and my local wood shop wants me to pay by the hour without giving me an estimate.

Thanks for the unintentional pro-tip: Minwax aerosol lacquer has the same adjustable spray nozzle that deft used on their cans. I too rely on aerosol lacquer for small projects and have been struggling to find a suitable replacement for the now unavailable Deft. After seeing you using Minwax here and pausing the video when I saw the blue cap I promptly bought some. Thank you sincerely for the best woodworking content on KZbin!

Mikey Mike! I know you're probably not used to receiving compliments, so let me be one of the fist -- this sanding disc is a game-changer! I'm a relative plebe, skill-wise, in comparison to you, or many others in your channel, so any advantage I can get is always welcome. I feel it's easier (and more encouraging) to learn, while still appearing competent, than being flustered by failure after failure. And this disc really helped me with my first "real" big project -- a benchwright dining table -- for the woman of the house. The table top is made from 6 slabs of 8-qrtr Ash, and this helped make the joints virtually seamless. Kudos! If I could use 10 of these discs at once, I would!

Thank you very much for the great compliment. Always great to hear a success story.

Why don’t you use glass in your windows of your most amazing woodworked doors. I wanted a simple video on how to build doors and I realize what I will build will just suck compared to these beautiful doors made with beautiful woodworking tools. I don’t even have a cement floor on my garage yet just dirt floor on my hundred year old farmhouse fixer. Trying to figure out how to build straight doors without a flat surface in sight!
@MikeFarrington4 күн бұрын
I had the polycarbonate laying around. We also get lots of hail here, so something with impact rating is welcomed. Tempered glass would cost a ton, and I wouldn't want to spend that on shed doors. As to flat surface, I have another video where I build huge carriage doors, in that video I show how to make a temporary surface to work on.
@Sendinglovetotheworld4 күн бұрын
@@MikeFarringtonthank I did see the carriage door video too.

How often do you clean your dust collection filters?
@MikeFarrington4 күн бұрын
I wish I had a better answer, but it depends. If I'm really cranking on something, every couple projects, sometimes weekly. Then other times, every other month.

Great work as usual!! Question , when you painted the face frame on the actual cabinet, did you have to mask everything except the face frame?
@MikeFarrington2 күн бұрын
I only mask off the interior. Overspray on the outside faces won't be seen.

Thank you. I don't talk price in the YT comments section. I priced this job at 1.5 days shop, and 1.5 days on site, plus materials.

Mike - quick question about your dust colllection system in this build. my shop has a suspended slab , just done drilling thru the 10" rebar-infested floor for 6"pipe (can you feel the love) - my dust collector is similiar to yours, and i'm setting up very much the same way you have. My question - the wynn filter . you are using a cyclone, so the reminents that pass by it and head to the wynn /gamma bucket. Have you checked to see how well this is working? can't see why dust would fall to the bottom of the bucket instead of getting stuck in the filter. Or are you just leting it go-where-it-goes and then "thumping" it out of the filter when doing the beloved shop maintaince? Just wondering if i should swith that part with filter on top, collector on the bottom. Great vid by the way. Norm is gonna be proud.
@MikeFarrington10 күн бұрын
This setup works well. a little dust falls to the bottom of the bucket. The bucket is primarily there to catch after thumping. Hope that helps.

Thank You Small note the Craftsman came in a single and triple cutter if a custom cutter is needed the single cutter is easier to make. I’ve used the Craftsman sets for years with good results, a hold down makes consistent cuts easier. New cutters are still available for Craftsmen, Delta, and others from Corob Cutters. These cutters make a scary sound when running.
