Just love the immense quality of these old Krell KPS players. I’m the happy owner of a KPS-28c, it sounds just amazing! Over here we have Marcel Kroese for revitalizing Krell gear…..

I own a Krell 30i and I use it both as a CD transport and as a DAC, this is an outstanding piece of gear. Exceptional sound.

I am pleased to say that I am the present owner of this beautiful CD player and as testament to Mike’s skill and perseverance, this player has been working magnificently for many years now… and yes it really does sound amazing!! Cheers Mike, it really was worth repairing and restoring this classic machine.

Great video, great player. It's good to see quality gear getting quality service. I own a 30i and I appreciate all your commentary. I only wish I didn't live so far away or I knew of a local audio tech at your high level of professionalism, expertise and knowledge.

31 years ago i was inthe market for a hifi system, had a budget of 2 thousand dollars, bloke in this shop gave me a demo on a system rigged up to a couple of krell ksa 250s, omg i could not afford that stuff, so i ended up buying various denon, harmon kardon , jbl comonents, ended up spending just under 5 grand, still have system and still use it today, made in japan denon, great components, if i won lotto id buy dan agostino, krells quality has gone down the sbend since agostino left, great review, thankuo, this is a gorgous cd player, worth fixing

Good video. I've never seen the inside of the kps 30i before.. The output section looks just like the 20i. Same chips but I can't tell what caps are in there. The 20i used sprague 515d.

A lot of parts to replace and a lot of time in the labour department, most likely a costly repair job but its a Krell and probably worth it, like a vintage Accuphase.
@LiquidAudio2 жыл бұрын
Actually not too bad and this was a repair and overhaul. Thankfully, due to Krell's serviceable design, not as costly as one might imagine and definitely worth it for such a stunning player!

if these players were front loading i'd consiuder them, though part of me does wonder if there is really any point going to such lengths on the analog side when much lesser implimentations can pretty much max out the limits of the cd format. telling perhaps there is no thd spec listed anywhere.

As soon as I saw the word "VENT" on those two black caps, I said why the hell would Krell have put two cheap Chinese caps on that board??? While I'm sure they would be ok for a little while, they certainly will not last.

Chongx is not the worst cap ever. Saying that it has no right being in a Krill!
@bojanzavcer10112 ай бұрын
The price is too high because you can see the worst Philips mechanism that moves the pickup via gears and the ordinary brush motor for rotating the CD. All brush motors are very noisy when they spark.

It annoys the heck out of me when people don't send their amps to professionals like yourself. Such dodgy work on these great amps is a sin!
