I felt like this recently. I asked a friend if I could take some photos of her to practice portraits. She said yes, and she was excited. Long story short she has 12k insta followers (I have 500). We did some street photography it was great. I started editing, after 4 days I was done with the ones I liked, Sent them to her. Then we decided to go out again and shoot and she kept asking for more, more more more photos. She deadass sent me a list of over 40 photos she wanted from that shoot including raw files and I had to ask permission for which photos I could post. During the shoot she started dictating the entire thing asking me to shoot her like this and that. Saying she wanted pictures in this pose at this location ect. Like wtf I just wanted to practice headshots outdoors with a friend. Then it turned into a free shoot where she decided what she wanted and what I should edit and the type of pictures I should take. I haven't edited photos or taken many pictures since then. Like people use you and its disgusting. Best part is after that she got an iPhone 12, removed all the photos on her grid (Including ones I gave her the week before that she "Loved") and started posting iPhone selfies.
@ReclusiveEagle3 жыл бұрын
Just to clarify, 3 photos into editing the second shoot I felt so demoralized I told her "No. I'm not doing this, you don't get to dictate the photos I take and where I take them". She apologized for "using me" because she "loved the photos" (again she removed everything a week later). Said sorry she made me feel that way... Then 3 days later asked me "Is it ok to ask to see what you are working on" as if I should continue editing ect. Like fk that. I'm just going to use the photos to practice skin retouching and color grading. I don't even want to post them. Which just makes me feel like I'm practicing and editing for nothing but hey that was my original intention. To *Practice*

I shoot professionally. When doing those free shoots you don't need to ask for permissions on what to post.. When I do my free shoots. I send my favorite shots. Shots I feel look good. People who are getting their picture taken. Have a tendcy to pick bad pictures. And that's because they see things about them self they dont like in it that only they see. So they end up choose I worse photo just so they dont have to see it.

Wooww... I thought that photography was just about implementing your knowledge, shooting the model and letting your creativity flow, but I was wrong. These challenges are teaching me so much about the importance of knowing how to handle oneself in such situations and the interaction that you ought to have with a client in order to maximize the outcome of the shoot. As demanding as it was, I like how jake dealt with the actress & publicist better but I like how vibrant the colours of your photos are and how editorial they look.

Haha, I enjoyed this one and imagine there really are clients like this out there. I once shot with a (paid) model who made it clear during the shoot that she'd expected things we were not exactly providing (like vegan food, specific music and "nice" environment"). I thought she would never want to shoot with me again but in fact she reached out a year later and we did another shoot - in a deep ravine in a forest where she ended up bitten by mosquitoes. But the images ended up amazing. I like shooting with models that are prepared to suffer a bit, in the interest of getting amazing images. Not an option with your sort of "Hollywood client", of course, especially if you are just starting out and it is them paying you. Another entertaining episode and I love how you take the best advantage of film in these situations!
