Ur info is amazing. I got a 120 yr old, and the foundation walls are now "ashing", dis-integrating, really crumbling, and powdering out. They use another word to describe this kind of decay, which i cant remember. But the walls are bad. Could i use cement to re-inforce these walls and fill in the cracks and hollows ???? What type of cement and additives do you recommend ??? And which for the exterior. if different for the interior???. The walls looks like old cinder blocks, some what like the same in this video, I know the walls are hollow inside, from the cracks i see in the foundation. Your input will be much appreciated. Hi Red, I just use the typical replacement
@reddragon37333 жыл бұрын
@@MikeHaduck thank you. I just have seen people use PVC pipe. But the way you install you can pull the vent out because of the wrapping you use around the pipes. I've learned a lot from you. And installed 2 basement Windows in my pre 1900s home. I mortared the entire outside brick foundation with the Rapidset Quick drying mortar. The old lime mortar was rotten. I use rapid set on my chimney the same way. Nice smooth surface. It would have taken forever to repoint all the brick's. This rapid set mortar is great stuff. I learned a lot from you and saved $ doing all these projects myself. I was going to use the Rapidset Water proofing Mortar on my interior basement walls. Made from rock in one side, brick on another side and cinder block on yet another. I guess they used whatever they had on hand back then. I want to smooth out and strengthen the basement walls. And prevent any moisture from getting in. Though the neighbors say the basement has never leaked in 40 yrs. There is a corner with a mildew build up I sprayed with bleach. I'll build up the grade in that corner. What do you think 🤔 of the Repidset Waterproof Mortar 🧱.? Thank You again for all your videos ☺️

Never knew so much people would want to get rid of their basement windows! Usualy you want more natural light in basement! Also thats a safety exit in case of fire. Live in cold Canada and never seen someone closing their windows to add a dryer vent or exhaust pipe. Here basement is very common since we need to dig under freezing for foundation so doing a basement is almost a free level to double the livkng space. You usualy just drill a hole and done.
