I wanted to know how do i make the vehicle stop moving at the end of the base on z axis?

very helpful, can u please tell me that if i use parent constraint in this, i think that will also do this job ? then why use point instead of parent !?

Hi Mike - firstly thanks for your great content. It's awesome that you do this stuff for free. I wondered if I could ask a question please? I'm moving to learning animation after having done some time with modelling. I wondered what the benefit is of using a point constraint rather than just locking off the two axis that you won't be using, therefore restricting the animation only in that one axis? Thanks

+ListerofSmeg2006 A matter of workflow I guess

Is there a way do this that would work on a model that wasn't axis aligned? This appears to require movement be parallel to grid lines, which is not always possible in certain rigs with many parts.
@MHTutorials3D6 жыл бұрын
To be honest I have not tried that

Forgot about my comment. I should mention that the best solution I came up with to my own problem, was placing the object under a group (ctrl-g) with all the translation/rotation data on the group. Manipulations under that group work just as cleanly as using the grid axes, but can be completely separate from world orientations.

Hi Mike, i just started using Maya and i am supposed to to a juming jack. The Problem i am having is how to connect the arms and legs, so if i pull the ring, both arms and legs go up, its very simple just using poly objects, nothing fancy, Its rigging, i know, but i can not make it work. Any Ideas, odr advice, so i can finish this project? Thanks already:-)

+Mike Hermes Oh Sorry Mike i thought this was a nConstraint tutorial... By any chance you did a tutorial on that? that would help a lot >

+Reika Sakura Hi Reika, check my video's on flags and table cloths. These involve nucleus constraints

How can you point constrain 2 objects to the same original object? Can you constrain one object to one end and the other object to the other end?
@MHTutorials3D5 жыл бұрын
Yes, by using locators

Hey Mike, I wanted to say thanks for all the resources. Your channel is amazing for me (senior in animation at school). I was wondering if you knew anything about animating cloth? I'm familiar with nDynamics and ncloth, but was wanting to try making a piece of cloth into an actual character. Maybe even rig poses. Think you could do a video on that?
@MHTutorials3D8 жыл бұрын
+Kris Tofer Do you want to use nCloth to create a character or do you want a character to wear nCloth ?
@luckywaddles8 жыл бұрын
+Mike Hermes I want for the cloth itself to be an animated character. Think the magic carpet in Aladdin.
@MHTutorials3D8 жыл бұрын
+Kris Tofer In theory it is similar to a piece of clothing following a characters body. The clothing is still nCloth but it is locked into the path of the characters movement ( constraints etc ) When animating a flying carpet however I assume you want more control ? Mike
@luckywaddles8 жыл бұрын
Mike Hermes Definitely. Now that I think about it, I wonder if it'd be possible to have it go from a stiff pose, maybe one of surprise, to being capable of switching into a more "fluid" mode where it's flying around a room. I hope I'm being at least a little clear, lol.

+Kris Tofer Kris, I personally would try a different approach. I would start with a stationary position of the polygon object ( not nCloth ) and keyframe it on frame 1. Then move the object to the next position including rotation and manipulation of the individual vertices to create an nCloth like look and feel to the carpet, keyframe it again etc

Hi Mike, First thank you for this tutorial, I needed that too. At 3:18 , I did exactly the same but i didn't get what you got, i mean when i hit w, it'll allow moving in the x,y,z axis. although i did the constraint point on Z axis just as what you did. :S
@darakhader35108 жыл бұрын
Do we have to parent them first, not only selecting both ?
@MHTutorials3D8 жыл бұрын
+Dara Khader At 5:34 ? The video is only 5:26
