Join me as I take a piece of old, rugged yew wood and transform it into something truly beautiful. Using a mix of traditional woodturning techniques, resin, and some creative touches, this project proves that even the ugliest materials can hide incredible potential. Don't miss the final reveal-it's a stunning piece that you won't expect!

1:15 There is a very strange optical illusion. Perhaps because of the camera angle and the mortar line in the wall lining up with the end of the bed of the band saw it looks to me like the piece is going to hit the wall before the end of the cut. 04:00 I wonder if you can get the copper to go blue in parts with some sulphuric acid or some other chemical reaction? That is brilliant find, the final piece will be slug resistant as an added bonus. 04:25 I love those sticks. I made a model table and chairs out of them... 07:34 Check that drill charging and storage station. 08:36 Pint of lager and a snakebite and black 10:57 Mike you are on Telly! 12:59 Seems you can't just pop out and do some turning in your pyjamas before breakfast... 18:10 That mesh conducts electricity maybe next time you can use it to deliver power to the lamp already set in resin. 21:56 Oh my... 28:22 I does look amazing There is just something about that barrel shape that is so attractive.

Nice looking piece Mike. I thought you might have had the both pointing up where you had just the wood one natural edge on the top and then the natural edge epoxied in the middle with out the screen Just my thoughts but I do not do epoxy. It’s lovely Mike. You do come up with some fantastic ideas. Apologies for the delay in viewing - I’m off to middle Granddaughter’s wedding in half an hour. I’m walking her down the isle wearing a full Scottish outfit 🌞

Such a lovely piece for Autumn. The colors and wood grain are gorgeous! Very clever using the mesh to create the illusion, but I'm not surprised by your creativity. Beautifully done and hope your wife liked it. Have a great week! ☺️

It is a gorgeous looking lamp Mike, the Yew has stunning patterns, and the resin does look like Amber as "Simon says" - sorry Simon for the quotation marks, it just reminded me of the children's game of, "Simon says" 😉, oh and thanks Mike for messing my Alexa's AI brain up 😋

Hi Mike, what a great idea using the copper mesh. I think we will other turners using copper mesh in their projects. As always Yew had a bright idea design and Yew executed it to produce a stunning Yew resin copper mesh Lamp. Thanks for sharing. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I love the lamp. It looks terrific. I did get a smile from the initial CAD shaping (Cardboard Aided Design). Works well. The mold was really stuck to the epoxy. Your seal worked well. I did not know about the copper mesh. It really adds a lot to the design, especially when lit. Very well done. Dave.
