Schnitzel themselves have probably been eaten allover the place for a very long time, but "Viennese Schnitzel" became kind of a trademark. See, an original viennese schnitzel is made from veal and has a rather thin and very crunchy coating of flour, egg and breadcrumbs. Manufacturers and restaurants started making them from other, cheaper meats, with thicker breading (to cut costs even more) and that got somebody's underpants all twisted up, so now they can only call it "Vienna style" (or something like that) if it's not made from veal.

I actually really like that Curry n Chips, I get a pack when I go to farmfoods It’s cheap chips and chippy curry sauce, it is what it is and it’s nice and cheap.

Have you tried the May Flower Farm Foods Curry Sauce it is great. I really like the chips and curry and chips and gravy much better than other chips places that sell them. If I go to Farm Foods I have to buy the chips and curry and chips and gravy but I rarely go there.

Glad you liked the XXL Schnitzel, I buy the Lidl version occasionally (which I think is probably from the same supplier, as it’s also called XXL Schnitzel), nice with potato Rosti, a wedge of lemon for the schnitzel and of course, some vegetables so the whole plate isn’t the same colour!

There is the original Vienna Schnitzel, which is made from cuts of veal breaded in flour, followed by an eggwash and a final coat of breadcrumbs. Other styles of schnitzel can be made from cuts of pork or chicken. Yours was, what we in Germany call Vienna Style which refers to the traditional breading method but without veal.

Schnitzel is very popular in both Germany and Austria (and also in Israel, BTW :) ). The classic breaded "Vienna Schnitzel" comes from Austria, as the name suggests, is made from veal and baked in lard or butter oil. The one made from pork or chicken is more common and is called "Vienna style" instead. Oh, and the XXL one you had would be considered "regular" in Austria. They eat giant ones over there. o.O

Watching this as I eat an Indian flatbread folded over with a piece of bacon and cheese. Granted the bacon is expensive fancy thick cut and the cheese was individually wrapped. Kind of tasted like a pigs in a blanket. Maybe swap out the singles for shredded cheddar and put a little mustard in and it would taste even better.

It varies wildly depending on region and income, as well as general tastes. Usually expect stuff like cornflakes or toast for breakfast with a fry up once a week (sausage, beans, bacon, egg, mushroom, tomato, toast). As for day to day food? Curries, stirfry, pies, pastas, and that sort of stuff (one pan sort of dishes, or stuff to be cooked in the oven with chips or other potato products). Farmfoods is cheap premade food that only a small number of people eat.

Vienna Schnitzel is made with veal so that one is a fucking lie, there's nothing "Vienna Schnitzel" about it. The original Schnitzel is austrian but pork Schnitzel is german and loved here. Usually just eaten with a bit of lemon juice squeezed over it, ketchup is a sin and will get you weird looks

I remember Farmfoods branded tomato sauce it was AWFUL it was in a huge bottle for something like £1.19... ant it was a pink/red colour and was mainly vinegar sauce.
