Maybe it's a Scottish thing but we always had yumyums over donuts when I was a kid. Love them! Also lived on cheese n onion pasties at school cos it was a cheap lunch it was the 80's they were less than 50p!

I went to Greggs in Eccles, Lancashire, every weekday morning for just short of 3 years while I was working there. Greggs was on the way from the train station to the office. All I ever ordered was a cafe latte. Every morning they asked me if I wanted a sausage roll. I said no thanks. Every morning. The people ahead and behind me ordered the same thing every single day: "bacon barn and a tea, love". Every single day. To be fair, they did vary in their choice of sauce (red or brown, never both). Greggs' food is grim. It's really greasy, really salty and very, very dry. It leaves a tannin effect on your tongue, like you've drank red wine or tea, that furry tongue effect. Their success is a total mystery to me, but I am not British.

A week on Birds bakery-their food is amazing,10 x better than Greggs! Their pork pies are everyone’s favourite in my town,they do great cheese scones,sausage and stuffing cobs in the morning, they make up sandwich rolls for lunch time, and their cakes are incredible-Elephant’s feet ( Our local name-profiteroles to other people)jam and cream doughnuts,iced slices,cream scones,tarts,doughnuts,brownies,florentines-would be a fun week on.

The best option is to purchase Greggs frozen pasties and sausage rolls from Iceland and bake them whenever you want in the convenience of your own home. As soon as I get to the closest Greggs in Shaw in Oldham, they have run out of baked goods and cakes. How disappointing! I'm convinced that some of the staff in there, including those at practically every other Greggs bakery, frequently help themselves to some of the food before it is put on display in front of the customers - the sneaky devils! (I'm referring to the staff, not the customers!)

I have 2 possibly evil suggestions for week ons. 1. a week on sausage rolls. you can include any sides r drinks the rolls can be homemade store bought vegan or real. The goal is that something that can be called a sausage roll by someones standards are included in every meal and see how many different kinds yoy can find to try out. 2. because i am evil a week without beans. all those beans you brits seem to love so much, none of those! ok seriously though, a week on where at least 1 meal a day includes something you can safely share with Basil. spoil the king!

They're very tasty, I do like a chicken bake myself, but a pasty is a specific thing and it's not what they were. Also yum yums shouldn't taste like burnt sugar. yum yums are are just a bit too sweet... if you arent used too overly sweet stuff they are a bit gross... i used to love them as a kid.... but now as an adult with diabeties... when you teach yourself and dont have overly sweet stuff yum yums are just way too much... i wstill like a slice of cake or a bitre of a donut but yum yums are just too sickly sweet
