Did that man not realize the ride took place in a confined space underwater??? Like?? It's based on the film 20,000 Leagues *UNDER* the *SEA* . I can't help but feel upset at how incredibly selfish that was of him to put others through such an unpleasant experience. Truly it's awful what he must have been going through, but regardless he should have known he wouldn't be able to handle such a ride in the first place, so why go anyway? Sorry you had to go through that OP, SMH some people
@meaghanrose6074 жыл бұрын
Stitchmeup he wasn’t scared of being underwater. he was probably fine underwater but being in the submarine could’ve been a tight space and a small space for him to fit in at and if it was small enough his claustrophobia could’ve kicked in and he got scared and sometimes you don’t know how to handle it

I wish they’d of kept this one open and updated it throughout the years, especially with it being a day one attraction, or at least its lineage traces back to both parks earlier days. The thought of an underwater ride featuring animatronics is fascinating. Although the two do not mix well, it’ was still a technical marvel that made the ride that much more interesting. There’s something hypnotic about it, especially the latter half of the ride.

As a an avid Disney fan that goes basically every weekend (I live only an hour away), and this ride having closed before I was born, it shocked me to say the least that this ride existed at the Magic Kingdom for a very large chunk of time. It's hard to see the Magic Kingdom any different than it currently is, I have been going since I was very young, though I was born in 2002, and didn't start going to Disney nearly as often as I do now until 2011, so much of my time going to Disney was experiencing Pooh's Playful Spot and New Fanastyland in the place this attraction used to reside. You can imagine the shock and just amazement when I found out this ride existed at the Magic Kingdom of all parks. For those who were there for it, Magic Kingdom probably doesn't feel the same without it, for someone like me who never experienced, it honestly messes with my mind to imagine a day at Disney where I could enjoy this phenomenal work of art. If only they were to bring it back someday.

I was very young at the time, probably 6 or 7 at most. This ride is effectively the only thing I remember from my first trip. Literally. Only later do I remember the peter pan ride, toads' wild ride, and the updated tomorrow land of the 90s. I have a leather tomorrowland jacket somewhere that's probably a disney collector's fantasy original issue from the opening the 90s. The most intriguing thing about this ride, was that you entered the nautilus on the aft, or back of the submarine, left or right side, as the previous riders were exiting through the front hatches. You had to actually go down stairs into the submarine and file in line along the inside. The seats were hinged on the wall so that you could flip them down and look out the porthole. As a kid, you really felt like you were actually diving under the sea, but as you got older you knew it was just theatrics. Still though it was one of the coolest rides because of its uniqueness.

Sadly, one thing that references the movie is that tedious organ music drowning out the narration.

Thank you for this. I went on the ride when I was 4. I vaguely remember it. But the squid was a core memory. I'm going to Japan next month and it'll be nice to compare this with that one.

I was 2 when I first went to Disney World with my family, and I remember my mom pointing to the submarine in the water and telling me it's the Nautilus. We couldn't go on the ride since it was closed, but I do remember seeing it.

I loved this ride as a kid, but looking at it now as an adult, it is totally different- like, if you look up, you can see the surface of the water at 3:49- 4:20 & 10:50 (you're only under about 5 feet) and I seem to remember there was King Triton, Poseidon or Neptune down there.....
