The very beginning of our 2023 season, starting with Clemency on the hard for her winter maintenance.
We slipped lines in early June for Fowey. We wanted to cross the Chanel, but very strong easterly winds, which built large seas, dominated the weather system.
So off to Fowey before departing to Southern Brittany. We then sailed on to Falmouth, touching 10 knots in the easterly-driven surf and waited for a calm forecast.
On 13 June, nearly two weeks after leaving Plymouth, we got a weather window, and left late afternoon to arrive at L’Aber Wrac’h in morning light.
We planned to sail on the tide that day to Brest to check in and get passports stamped, but were too tired so left next morning in full Fog. Then motor-sailed to Brest, checking in the following day.
