Based on the color of your nail polish and the fact that the bird at time 37:25 is facing west into the prevailing winds, I would say that you’re on Long Wharf in Boston Harbor. Clever you mixed in some footage from NS.

I used to work downtown and when the weather was nice I would walk along the harbor. If you're still in Boston, do yourselves a HUGE favor and go to the falafel king in downtown and get a falafel wrap or some shwarma. Delicious!

Fresh water Rinse layup and Emergency Bilge Pump. On Starlight 1989 Beneteau Oceanis 350 has a Volvo Penta engine M2003 28hp anyway I was the second owner, so after I purchased the boat I was doing the shakedown cruise and ran the engine for about an hour and the overheated alarm went off , could not find a problem, cutting too the chase lots of growth and calcification of the tubes in the heat exchanger. Had too take the entire unit clean it and put it back, never wanted to do that again figured was not the use rather the extended, layup with saltwater, also the corrosion factor of the elbow, had to replace that. So as a solution I cam up with this manifold I constructed with brass and bronze fittings and ball valves for each connection, from the thru hull , to the manifold, ball on the thru hull and on the manifold did the same at the on end valve to the sea strainer to the engine, next thru hull, pressure fresh water, and at the other end again valve to a run to the bilge. This allows me to turn on the fresh water, backwash the thru hull, then shutoff and run the engine for 2 minutes on fresh water before shutting down the engine for the night or an extended time. It also in the final configuration allows me to bring to bear as an emergency pump, on my main bilge the engine, if there is a major leak in the boat that bilge pumps cannot handle for whatever reason, (lightning strikes) etc. I often use the fresh water system when she is on the hard, and I need to run the engine, like changing oil, etc. I have 100 gallons of water on Starlight, you should see the looks I get in the yard with no hose, on the hard, yet engine running and water from the exhaust and prop shaft running out. In 20 years have not had any overheating issues or had to deal with the heat exchanger or the elbow, which is notorious on Volvos.. Also a sea water strainer and fresh water source rinse for the head, works great in the hot summer fresh water makes a big difference in your black water tank.

I thoroughly enjoyed that tour. Thanks, and will be watching that quite a few times to suck out all of the details. I am in agreement with all of the things you have done, and there are a few i will copy. One item though, I installed the largest video screen that would fit, and suggest you reconsider the size. So I have a 48 inch display, only because the 55 inch wouldn’t fit, but that might fit on Polar Seal. There is an 8K 55 inch screen that is just 12mm thick and can mount right on the wall. The big screen acts as a kind of mirror when not in use and makes the boat seem larger. When in use it is a full home theatre and a far better experience than the small screen. Also the large screen is my computer monitor when I am doing CAD Design work. I kept the smaller 12 V Majestic screen in place on the other side of the Salon, A, because it is 12 Volt and a good backup when at sea, and B, because I quite regularly am designing on the big screen while having a video running on the other. Yes, I live alone. The first improvement I did on this boat was the electric Head. 1000% agree. And am looking for a design for the sanitary waste. Very big issue (but can’t talk about it). Totally love your washer dryer, and would have one but found them unavailable. I get by with a top loader that hides away under a Salon seat cushion, and sits right down on top of the keel. No where near as good as yours, but I love it anyway……until there is a better one. One of the best gadgets I have is a nutrition bullet. I love this and do so much with it. My most recent gizmo is an air fryer. Good because it gives me some of the function of a microwave, a device that just will not fit on this boat. Another thing that i have been pondering is if i can make a deep sink become a dishwasher. A dishwasher is nothing more than a box with a water heater, pump and spray nozzle,……and a door. I think that it can be done. A sink with dishwasher functionality. I have a hydronic water heater aboard and do all of heat the space, heat the water, and dry the wet head after a shower. I could also have the dishwasher function running so the same diesel fuel used in the Hydronic does 4 functions at once. I have solar water heating (an addition to the solar panels) soon to be fitted making the use of diesel less necessary.

Forgive me for asking but If you don't flush toilet paper, where do you put it? I would assume that has the potential of getting a little stinky. Did you add the two fridge electrical panels in the kitchen to run them independently or did the boat come with that?

Looks like you are in Halifax as you film this video... a city that has changed a lot since I've been there in a 29 foot sloop in... 1987 ! It was before GPS and light weight radars, and we had to navigate in the fog (this doesn't seem to have changed! ) by dead reckoning, with a compass, a Seafarer 3 Sea Depth Echo Sounder, a «Walker's Ship Log» and a Radio Direction Finder. A little scary in some occasions but it worked, since we came with that equipoement all the way from Montreal, QC, to Twillingate, NL, and then south to Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon, Cape Breton, South East shore of Nova Scotia, Mount Desert Island, Camden, Gloucester and, finally, Cape Cod Canal... without any major problem ! Hope you'll have today as much fun as we had 35 years ago in this wonderfull region !

Nice battery setup. I see some people sticking with AGM for a starter and then charging a LiFePO4 house bank via a DC:DC charger. Is that lithium starter your 4th backup battery, or are you configured as 3 house, 1 house backup, 1 starter (all lithium)? If you don't allow toilet paper to be flushed, what do you do with the paper? Washing machine is nice.

Hi Sophie, I'm tempted to remove our fridge and just max out the galley with large freezer. Obviously that requires different planning for stocking food, like batch cooking and freezing, and I can always put drinks in the freezer for 20 mins if I want something cooled. Just wondering if you have any insight on your freezer use and energy consumption? Any opinions on freezers? Thanks.

Polar Seal is an amazing boat. The definition of 'An Amazing Boat;: Is it a much better boat than it was brand new? And Would you rather have the new model of your boat, or your boat? Polar Seal aces these. (I sailed three days on a Jeanneau 40 your Beneteau's sibling. Terrific, but the galley needed more space, and the engine was too loud. You've solved both of these) The only thing I have on my boat that Polar Seal might like is I made an exhaust fan for my galley. (I have a Hunter 456 Passage). I had a spare 'window' (side light) that I used as a pattern for 8mm luan plywood. I copied everything, all the little fingers for the latches and the hinges. I installed the fan at an angle. On the sides of the triangle blocks I added a couple pieces to use as handles.. The handles were the final piece of the puzzle. Very easy to use. It 'plugs' into the open (side) hatch without any need for latches. Vents all the burned propane and cooking smells. Easy to remove.

11:20, I think, it's more structural, than a safety. Big solid integrated boxes make the entire boat stiffer. If it would have a removable lid, it will be flimsy. However, I think, the lids can be a bit bigger, but it should have a solid glued-on top with holes, not removable top.
