My days of laying on my tum are long gone but also are my days of going out and not seeing birds. At 80 years I do my photography from a scooter and amongst my essentials is a bottle of oxygen. I go out with camera every day and here in SE Queensland there is always something to photograph. Always enjoy your presentations, Mike.

At 82 I'm doing most of my photography from the comfort of a chair on my back porch in this hot summer. But I'm still going out there and doing it almost every morning.

As usual very informative. Heartwarming that I’m not the only photographer who goes out and sees very little.

Excellent advice and testimonial for taking the time to really get to know your camera made all the better by the images you were able to capture. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that tip is NOT in the instruction manual.

Thanks for the great tips for being in a lay-down hide. I find shooting in that position to be the most uncomfortable of all my options and only do it for about 15 minutes at a time but I completely agree with you that it provides a great shooting angle for the birds.

Very good Mike . Now I have the Sony A 9III with Procapture. I agree I won't be going back to a Camera without it. A distinct advantage in this type of situation . A very good demonstration of the Bueto hide as well . Awesome 👍

Great video Mike. What a setup. Wouldn't a blow up mattress with one of those tiny usb c electric pumps work better than a mat. That looks uncomfortable. You got some great shots, it's a shame about the lack of birds. Nice bean bag. I've got the same one. I like the spinning plate idea as well. Hot tip: don't replace those tiny weightless styrofoam balls with rice like I did. Rice is a lot more silent, but way more heavier and those balls go everywhere. Not to mention impossible to get back into the bag once you've realised they were far better for lightness 😂 I had a slow motion video setup on my OM1 mkii on C4 and I had the dial button locked and went somewhere to shoot birds and was in a scene when I decided I wanted to shoot video. So I pressed the video shutter button and thought to myself 'Wow! I'm getting some great footage here with the beautiful sounds of the birds and surroundings.' When I got home and went through the footage I was so disappointed as i realised all of the video, not just that one clip, but everything that I'd taken that day was in slow motion with no sound. This is why it's important to put the slow motion on a dial like C4 something that you're not going to use all the time. Live and learn. I've loved the fast capture on this camera.

It would be even more to carry and it is a long walk into that site. My beanbags are filled with chickpeas.

What a cracking video, full of great advice and tips for the hide and the shooting style. I have the Pana G9 and Pana 100-400mm. Only 0.4sec of pre-capture on this model but it's caught me some good stuff in the past. ATB MMMD

@@MikeLaneFRPS Yes I guess that gets the important split second if your ready and quick on the shutter.

Cracking video , but instead hurting your neck to look through the viewfinder why don’t you use an external monitor , I have a relatively cheap one and found it really useful when I’m in a cramped space

The birds are not there a lot so the camera is mostly in sleep mode. I am not looking through the viewfinder very much. It is just an uncomfortable thing to do.
