I just found your channel a few days ago and have watched all your videos ! Your energy and enthusiasm is contagious , along with your obvious love for machinery ,BIG MACHINES ,which is great ! The access you have to this kind of stuff is a luxury not everyone has and I think you are aware of it , so bringing us your thoughts and opinions in your style is very entertaining and educational ! I'm from Illinois ,USA farm raised and still active ,so your wide open country and crops are also a real departure from my comfort zone so bring it on as much as you like and whatever makes your place go !!! Thanks for the video!

I love the fact that the whole bottom of the tailings and clean grain elevator augers open with the flick of a lever ,that would be so nice on the deere's when switching between seed crops .

Pff, this Fendt Ideal 9 combine is a great machine, great demo Mike! Works perfectly on a nice crop, but which isn't easy at all after having got snow and being seated so close at the surface. What a joy must it be to be able to work with such high standard technology 👍👍

I got a “Real Good Laugh” out of your comments regarding needing “Fans” out front to deal with the dust and “Lack Of Visibility”. Many years ago when I was helping a friend combine a field of wheat in a river valley with no wind present I could “NOT SEE A THING” through the windshield even when I constantly cleaned the glass. I resorted to standing out on the cat walk in hopes of assisting what I could see. The swathes were spaced closer than today because of the smaller size of equipment back at that time. I did notice that the sound of the combine was not consistently under load but it took a while before I clued in that I was combining perpendicular to the swathes. We shortly there after shut it down for the night and had a beer to wash the dust from our throats and laugh about the situation.

Great video. I like to see how the mechanics of machines work as I am a Power Engineer and work with large machines like turbines and generators. Only difference I see between Saskatchewan grain farms and those in Manitoba is our guys usually have a elm tree at the end or middle of the fields for something to stare at/or aim for when travelling across those huge flat lands. Also makes for nice pictures. That was B4 autosteer. LOL. I watched a cool Mac Don video about how flex draper headers work. They are made in Manitoba. It is interesting how you comment on the challenges the headers have with different crops. Pretty difficult for John Deere etc to have a one size fits all /does all header and maybe that is why aftermarket ones are so popular?
@mikemitchell25545 жыл бұрын
🤔 Umm.. Everyone farmer would have their own opinion of this.. But it is hard to have a one size fits all.. I always say what works good for me, might not for you.. Even if it does, where is your closest dealer/service? For us, Honeybee has been working pretty good, better than the Deeres in most cases.. Not all though, short crop is hanging up on that transition plate is a problem... But we re only 20mins from the factory and are neighbors with the owners 🤷♂️
@mikemitchell25545 жыл бұрын
Also, Macdon makes good simple headers, but they aren't a true flex.. They only hing.. So you have to keep that in mind as well.. Just depends on what you're buying it for.. 🙂

Farming in NW Illinois USA. I know nothing about chickpeas. What is an average yield? What is a good yield? What is average moisture? What are they used for? Thank you for the awesome videos sir!
@mikemitchell25545 жыл бұрын
They used to go to India but then Trudeau played dress up over there and everything went south.. So now I think the US actually buys the majority of ours.. 14.5% is dry, but I would get them down to 12 or 13 because they don't keep well stored in a bin. Not even dry. Avg for us used to around 40bu but it's been declining theses last couple years due to weather and diseases. They get Ascochyta Blight real bad.. So you have to spray them nearly every 8-10 days from the moment they are out of the ground to maturity.

Ever thought about getting one of the blowing apparatus, that helps with the low stuff?
@mikemitchell25545 жыл бұрын
Not for theses 50s..i would think we would run into either A: they don't build one that big yet or B: it would be too heavy on the header and would give issues.. We had them on some JD 40ft Hydra Flex headers and weren't the biggest fan..

Their website doesn’t say much about the float of the adapter plate, it must not have any springs at all like the macdon? Is it just free floating giving you a few inches of upward movement in case the combine slams downward? Great video 👍

It's free floating I believe and sitting on air bags - no springs.. I am not sure of the exact amount of travel, but it's prb something like 3-5in 🤷♂️
