This is my experience of putting/keeping fires out under bushes and trees. Use the most concentrated stream of water you can to penetrate down into the ground, do not use the spray setting because all you are doing is watering the top of the ashes. The best thing I have ever seen for getting down into the roots was a pressure washer with a 500 gallon tank. It works much better than you think it would not only for getting down into the roots but also the spray that it puts out will also do well on a grass fire. Mike, you make great videos and I like your sense of humor!

I had a friend from sask. she use to tell me how big the farms were out there, as far as you can see. thats hard to comprehend when the property i own can be cut with a push lawn mower in 5 mins. ill keep watching your vids, keep them coming.

@checkengine17524 жыл бұрын
They may install lightening cages on top of the poles. It stops arcing by directing plasma inside. The downside is you need to ground it to be effective, which in this situation is probably missing a point, because it will attract the lightning.

We just had a fire a couple days ago. Started from our swather. Only burnt maybe a half acre. Lucky we had the disk ready. All the neighbors that were close came. Even though we had it out they came anyways. There wasn't anything to stop it if it got to the next field strip. Scary stuff. No rain since middle of June.

How often does the powerline company wash the power pole insulators with a helicopter wash system? Should there be a bare dirt clearance around power poles during the summer crop growing season? Thermal imaging camera might be an addition to the fire control tool kit. Chain saws, a few other hand tools e.g Pulaski etc. Rake on a 14 tonne excavator etc.

Same sort of set up in western australia with everyone having fire fighters but now days we have water tanks on our chaser bins(augar wagon)
@mikemitchell25544 жыл бұрын
Right, I have been told to do that, and that's a good idea.. But you can't go 30miles chasing fires with the Grian cart 😂.. So either way, we still have to have a truck with water tank on it the field.
@Lordy294 жыл бұрын
Chaser bin fire units are great for quick response if a harvester/header catches alight while they're working. Gives other people enough time to race back to the fire cart/truck and bring it over relieving the chaser to go continue with the other harvesters. But for basically anything outside the pdk they're working in, they're not worth grabbing. Offset discs or speed tillers are great stubble fire combatants 😁😁
