The way I view the "Apple Ecosystem" is the convenience of having one account iCloud connected to all your devices, syncing data. It's definitely a plus, but nothing mind-blowing. Like yeah, you don't have to enter your iPhone's hotspot password on your Mac, but on my PC, I entered my Galaxy's password once, and it is saved in my WiFi networks. It's a tiny convenience, not a feature.

EDIT: I will summarise this better. Apple has made it more annyoing to transfer a file from other devices rather than there own in order to keep you ignorant of the fact thats its very easy to do without all of Apples stuff. So this on Apple and thier Mac books. Think about it, Its easy to send files from one Android device to another. About the file transfer from android at around 3:46. Its even easier to transfer any file from you phone to any computer. Just connect you phone via the provided usb lead, simpy find the folder on your phone that conatins the file, then drag and drop it into the place you want on your PC, its dead easy. I can see that if you have been using an app on an Apple device that it seems harder, but is not. Its not hard to find the location of the file on your phone when it connected you your computer. Your phone does a good job of telling you what location ist stored in. The fact that the app is bad is not reflective of how much easier it is to trasnfer a file from your phone on Android to any PC. You could find another free app that would work an do the same job.

No need to download apps or cables. Apple is simplified convenience. If you use Apple messaging,emails,files,notes ,photos and safari you can check them on any of your devices without having to download apps and logging in. It’s just an experience that you have to try to understand. I’m heavily in the ecosystem and my wife uses Samsung and she doesn’t understand why Samsung can’t catch up. Not to hate any company here, but Apple always had the vision to have a separate ecosystem from the first iPhone, if I remember correctly. Not including Bluetooth for file transfer and opting for the Lightning port for so many years until the EU made it mandatory to use USB. I remember the old days when people had Nokia, Sony Ericsson and Samsung phones and could share all the stuff they wanted wirelessly. Connecting to computers was never a hassle either. For music, you had the headphone jack that worked with any brand. I don't understand why this ideology of having a market where devices connect to each other has been ignored for the sake of "ecosystems". Samsung seems to be moving in this direction lately, and has received a lot of negative criticism as a result.

Suddenly I started seeing benefits of the Apple Ecosystem. Then to help with some health issues I thought I'd try a Apple Watch, dam the Apple Ecosystem is getting better and better. With the Apple Ecosystem both my Mac, iPhone, Apple Watch, Airpods and just talk to each other make phone calls answerable on any of the devices, pass files, use iPhone camera on any of the devices and I didn't have to do anything it just works. Have to say I stayed away from the Apple Ecosystem at first thinking it was just a gimmick, but once I had two Apple devices I started getting hooked on the Apple Ecosystem. Now the Android and Google world has an ecosystem, but because you start getting into multiple vendors it isn't as smooth experience as Apples. I'd say Apple's Ecosystem is their secret weapon for getting and keeping customers on Apple products.

I build hackintoshes for audio. Windows is good for games.
@DojoOfCool2 ай бұрын
My friend kind of started me thinking about hackintoshes. Audio giant AVID had dropped support for older bus Apple was using and no discount or deals for those who had those expensive cards. So option was buy newer Mac with the new bus and buy new Avid cards. He said screw that I have too much invested to shelve it all. Was easy to get PC with the bus Mac had so he built a Hackintosh. All the cards and software worked fine. He eventually upgraded the PC and made it a Hackintosh and kept going. So he got more years of use from his investment, before finally deciding to get a new Mac and the new Avid cards.

I know android is starting to do things similarly, especially Samsung, but the reason I stay on iPhone is because nobody is nearly as seamless with connecting literally everything I own together. Samsung isn’t bad by any means, they’re just one step behind when it comes to this That being said, my god the Magic Mouse is absolutely terrible
@timothylangin40956 ай бұрын
Android suffers from the same problem that windows does which is that it is developed as software separately from the company selling the device. Samsung doesn’t write android software, it uses software from google on its devices. While iOS on the other hand is coded by apple for apple devices. Which is why it think the apple ecosystem so seamless compared to other ecosystems as well as apple recognizing that people want their devices to work together.

If find it just as semless for any device, i dont see a difference here. Apple make it look more semless, when really its the same. When switching to a new device you just easly re-download your apps and if you use any of thioe pasword mangers you, if Apple lets you on their devices that is, you can sign into your apps and accounts and so forth. your Phone is the same with just having to put your sim card in the new phone as and easy extra step.

I’ve been using an iPhone since the 4. The iPad since the Mini 2. Apple Watch since the Series 3. I’ve been within the Apple ecosystem for a long time. Currently own an iPhone 15 Pro, Apple Watch Ultra 2, iPad Pro, Apple TV 4K, and also own AirPods and use AirTags. The only thing I don’t own is a Mac. I know it is fundamental to the ecosystem, but god I can’t stand macOS. My mom has a MacBook Air and it was just frustrating to use. I’ve been using Windows since XP and I’m just so used to it. I also mainly use my computer to game, and a few games I play aren’t compatible on macOS. But Apples ecosystem is very tightly integrated. But also so is Samsungs. My husband is in the Samsung ecosystem and it works great as well. But the thing Apple does is has a lot of features that you can’t get on Android, in some cases keeping people trapped in the ecosystem. My advice is, find the ecosystem you like and stick with it.

I used to work with/for Apple once upon a time. originally I was on the Apple ecosystem in Japan and the UK and had to switch to Android plus Windows when I moved to the Philippines. I got used to the handoff between android and windows in general and had to move back onto the apple ecosystem (primarily for work), but you really do miss out on most of the soft features available in those primary markets, making it somewhat useless here, unless you’re using it for work. I’d say if you’re living in a country which isn’t prioritized by Apple, it’s better to use Android + Windows, unless you absolutely have to use iOS or macOS for work purposes. Where are Apple’s primary markets? Wherever they have official Apple stores (NOT their official resellers): the US and other Western countries, China, Singapore, India, Japan, South Korea, Brazil, Mexico, Turkey, Thailand, Malaysia, and the UAE. If you’re anywhere else? Android and Windows for a non work ecosystem.

But still works for me. Considering getting an imac 24 on discount with M1 chip as its £600 less for same spec just slower chip.
