The ultra is too big for most people and its squared corners cut into your hand. I don't need or want the S-pen, nor the ultra's fancy camera features. I'm getting the S24 regular. Its resolution is just fine for a 6.2-inch screen and that extends its battery life too.

@Electric-bm7bf maybe an eye-opener for you - Not everyone changes their phone in every 2-3 years just because brands keep making them. I used my moto Z play for 5 years and now my mother is using it, it was an amazing overall phone back in 2016 and it still runs well for my mother's usage. If a mid range Moto from 2016 can last for 7 years, a flagship Galaxy S with top of the line Snapdragon? Definitely will run pretty okay for the majority of people even without software updates. It's a good thing that it'll get support for 7 years.

S24 regular is underrated, while everyone just talks about the ultra which is just essentially the note reincarnate, seldom people mention the true S series which is the regular models and plus like s23/+ and s24/+ Thanks Mike for delivering us content about these ones. I was from the start only looking forward to the regular model given its size and other positives you mentioned. Other reviewers only pay attention to the ultra but for so many, ultra just isn't an option.

Samsung needs to ditch Exynos for god's sake. Don't care if anyone's here for arguing "it's for profit blah blah". We don't care, it's already one of the too tech giants. We spend hundreds of bucks and get a flagship with Exynos chip whereas people from other side of the world get to use it with the latest powerful snapdragon chipset. That's just cheap and unfair move from Samsung. They need to stop it.

The Samsung Galaxy Experience store in Kangnam, Seoul just put the s24 series phones out to try, today. Honestly, I think the Plus model will also do well. It isn't much smaller than the 24 Ultra (the thin clock line being the only difference in size), and has rounded corners. Was surprised that the 24's are quite a bit thinner in feel over the 23's. One thing I like about my s21 is that it's quite a bit thinner than the s22 and s23 base models and plus models are. It seems like they've gotten back to a thinner feel on the s24 base and plus models. Big win! To be honest, I do feel the 24 Ultra's screen has lost a bit of pop and dimensionality compared to the 23 Ultra. The 24 isn't bad, but I didn't feel wow'd by it, either. Actually, I was surprised that the colors didn't really stand out like I remember the s23 Ultra doing in the stores. I might pick up a used 23 Ultra and save $500. Nice phones, but for the money, a used 23 someone is dumping for a 24 will be a bargain. I run the s21 and still don't see a need to upgrade. The base 24 and plus here are Exynos. I did feel some warmth on the base 24 model, but not the 24+

Thanks for the information on the S24. I am one of those with smaller hands and have been considering an S23 for a while. Upgrading from an S10 to a 256 GB S24. Love the size. Don't want anything bigger. Also I keep my phones for years. Before the S10 I was using an S6 Edge. Only upgrading my S10 because the charger port no longer works. I charge wirelessly but I can no longer connect my drones to the phone so an upgrade was necessary. With 7 years of updates I should be good for a long time, assuming the charger port doesn't crap out on me!

I like small phones and I'm a 6'1 dude and prefer the portability and one had use. Also, they are cheaper. Now, what sucks is that manufacturers don't put a proportional battery to match the screen size and o know they could. You want more battery range? Get a bigger phone, but why? At least Samsung put a 4000 battery....like my current s21, I mean why on earth did they went down to 3700 for the s22, then 3900 to s23? Makes no sense.

I haven't made up my mind yet. But I already decided that if I'm going to get any of these three choices, it'll be the S24 Plus. For once, it's closer to the S24 Ultra than the vanilla model.

@kevinphoenix2007
@kevinphoenix2007 Жыл бұрын
@@Daniel-dj7fh Because first, I can't afford to pay the absurdly high price of the Ultra, even with a trade-in. Second, I don't need the S-Pen. Third, 3X optical zoom is plenty for me. If for some reason I need more, 30X zoom is more than enough for me. And lastly, aside from those previously mentioned features, the Plus shares all other features with the Ultra from the QuadHD+ display to the 12 gigs of RAM to the 256GB of starting storage. That's why I say that the S24 Plus, this year, is closer to its Ultra variant unlike in the past when it was closer to the vanilla variant.

The 1440p sells the s24 plus for me. That was usually the main reason for going with the ultras. To me, the 1080p displays make it feel lower-end. Would love to see 4k in the ultra some day if it's possible.
@anonymous-entity
@anonymous-entity Жыл бұрын
the 1440p is actually impractical. Most laptops these days are still on 1080p and its plenty sharp. 1080p would actually be better for battery life. Unless you keep your phone extremely close to your face to the point that you want to see the individual pixels, 1080p is just fine
@Daniel-dj7fh
@Daniel-dj7fh Жыл бұрын
Because you'll notice the difference right. The only thing different is how much faster your battery drains. Like the other guy said, you can sill go by having 1080p on laptops because it doesn't make any sense, at 23" 1080p is at it's limits and on a 27" monitor you can see that it's not enough. I'm running a 32" monitor with 1440p and it looks great. Here we're talking about 6.7" poopy sized screens.

@@Daniel-dj7fhbs. watch tests , battery drainage between fhd and 4k in UI is too small, I have experienced it years ago running 4K on a Sony phone with custom room, bumping up slightly brightness too, and the battery drainage was really small, at least they should pack 4K displays and add dynamic res like Sony phones, Sony runs FHD+ and it uses 4K for media.

It's not like the phones stopped working once you stopped getting new os updates. My a50 runs exactly like it did 4.5 years ago. The issue is that app developers aren't optimizing their shit to run on older devices. PokemonGO used to start super quick now it has a 30s black screen and takes almost a whole ass minute to launch. Whatsapp has not been a 500Mb app for years now and I still can't uninstall all the duplicate Samsung alternative apps I never use to get abit more storage. Talking about storage, why is the System taking up 30% of the whole storage nowadays. It's 17Gb on my a50 with android 11 and 37Gb on my android 13 tab s6lite. Windows is 7Gb how is android so big smh..?

Loving my Exynos 2400 S24 here in the UK 😊 The Amber yellow colour I went for. Don't succumb to the mass hysteria regarding Exynos my G's. Everything works perfectly to perfection 😊 I tested & thrown everything on it - sustainability, stability, raw performance, general performance, games, production media apps etc. All good, everything checks out, top level, Top Tier SOC & it will only get better with optimisation/updates 😊 I also have the 24 Ultra but it will be the secondary phone kept at home mainly for media. I could have bought any phone available with any SOC I wanted etc. yet I purposely picked the standard S24 as my main phone 😊 Compact yet powerful enough for everyday use. Good camera (especially with the Expert Raw app that's available only on the newer Galaxy's) Good level screen, decent battery life, future proof & more.

For me, the photo quality of the 8 is just better over the S23 and as far as I can tell they made no improvement in the S24. I like small phone so the Ultra, just as the 8 pro, are not an option for me. Bro cameras on phones are all software. You see this in MKBHD's camera comparison where the pixel 7a with considerably worse camera still was top 3 or something. It doesn't matter what camera Samsung, Apple, etc. puts on their phone if they don't give proper software. If I'm not mistaken the A54, A25 have the same cameras, and it'll still look shittier on the A25. And I might be wrong it's also the same sensor which was on the S21 or something, and that will still look a lot better.
