Samsung had the Fit2 or Fit3 which wasn't that big either doing almost everything the ring does. Could have been smaller if it didn't need the bigger battery which was powering the display. It would be banger if Samsung made a slim fitness pod which could be worn like a Whoop on the upper arm or ankles so one can wear a normal watch on the wrists. And not cost 10x of the Fit2.

it's probably more comfortable to sleep with a ring compared to a watch.
@viktorbihar53843 ай бұрын
@@marley720 True. It's mainly for those who want something simple that can do some of the things that a Galaxy watch does. Measuring vitals is kinda the reason for the ring, and since watches aren't comfortable when sleeping with them, people usually take them off, and at that point you are no longer getting measurements. The ring basically mitigates the lack of comfort, and in exchange you get constant stats on your wellbeing.
@fuzziestlumpkin3 ай бұрын
I've got both, and the honest answer is no. But the ring does seem to do a bit better with sleep tracking and the temperature sensor and oxygen saturation seem to be far more accurate. I am using a watch 5 Pro though so the differences may be slimmer on a watch 7.
@minusmartin3 ай бұрын
its supposed to be better at tracking your sleep, heart beat and all that since the finger is supposedly the best way to measure those things vs your wrist. its like the watch is a jack of all trades and this ring is the master of one. Im sticking with the watch since i am not a ring guy. the metrics it measures seem to be very accurate for me so i am fine
@clintk46913 ай бұрын
With a month of data, was a decent enough chunk done with the galaxy watch ultra? I hear the watch and ring work together to get more accurate information. I wonder if it would end up being closer to something like a whoop strap or if there's really any meaningful change to the accuracy of the data.

I'm normally a size 7, but with the Galaxy Ring, I went with the size 8 over the 9. The 8 fits snuggly, and the 9 seemed too loose. However, to get it off, I need to use Windex to get it past my knuckles and is a struggle to get it on and off. While I'm still glad I purchased the ring, smart rings in general are probably not for folks with large knuckles or arthritic knuckles. In the next generation, I wish they could make the ring expand slightly to make it easier to get it on and off while still maintaining fit.

Great review and I like the comparisons. It's interesting to see the different numbers... I personally was really excited about Sammy introducing it and wanted to snag one but I decided against it for now. I don't like wearing things (I actually take my wedding band off at home) and wearing an extra ring is a no-go for me - was hoping to replace my band with it but I know tracking would be worse wearing on my ring finger; I really wanted a way to better track my sleep and tried wearing my watch one night and it was awful... The price on the ring was also a turn-off - it's not horrible but more than I'd want to spend.

Great, very thorough review 👍. As I mentioned before, I still think manufacturers should explore different styles beyond the wedding band design. It would be nice to see a smaller, signet-style option that could accommodate more battery and sensors. If I'm already wearing a ring, an extra 2-3 grams wouldn’t bother me, especially if it means I can skip wearing a watch.

The biggest problem I have with any of these smart rings is that the battery is not replaceable so after a year or so when the very small battery has reached a point of just not holding enough charge to make it useful, you have to just through it away and buy another, aside from this being quite expensive it's also more e-waste. Personally I'll stick to a smart watch coz at least you can change the battery and pass it on when you do decide to buy a new one.
@brando34243 ай бұрын
