Last summer after I had parked my Cub away for the day, I was driving home south on Muldoon Rd in Anchorage. I saw a high wing aircraft cross over Muldoon Rd which cleared him of Anchorage airspace and this aircraft had a angle of attack beyond anything I knew of and instantly realized it was Mr.Patey and DRACO ! I watched the entire build video and what we will see next from Mr.Patey is success. If he in visions it, he creates it. What a mans man. Hats off to him and his brother, family and crew. I've never been so emotionally attached to a plane I've never seen and that isn't mine. RIP Draco. The plane that re-sparked my interest in aviation after 10 years, and got me back down to the FBO to re-start on my PPL. @mynameisray5 жыл бұрын
@@nathanielthigpen3660 - Even they have to be FAA inspected and certified air worthy. You can't slap a few bits together and go fly it with an experimental badge. That is a hazard to you and other people. It's no different than cars, once past a certain point of wreckage they can't be certified air worthy anymore. If it was something like a minor tail strike or wing strike, sure. Main structure bits on this plane were mangled. So he either has to cut it all apart and fix it, which still may not pass, or build a new one.

YES !!! DRACO MUST LIVE. WE love you! Make it so!

This is great, I was hoping you were going to rebuild draco, its one of the coolest bush planes Ive seen. Watched the whole build series, its like sculpture/engineering/craftsmanship/design/aviation all rolled into one. Thanks for doing this series, Id like to be a pilot one day (if I can find the time) and videos like this are very motivating.

Still heartbreaking to see it after it went down, such a iconic airplane..but know you will get it back better than ever Mike, and just again glad all of you are ok, and can't wait to see it fly once again!

your work is incredible. You are an amazing engineer and fabricator. Draco was by far the most advanced bush plane ever built. Looking forward to Scrappy! Please never stop with the videos!

Shorter land and shorter take off: that would be a helicopter.

I think Mike wants a bush plane that doesn't need tires, just feet like a dragon fly.

I guess the wings are already removed. Might as well built a place for a rotor mast in their place
