Love it Mike,your decorations are just enough without being over the top but what I really love about your version is the shear size of the box. Great job as always 😊

I was thinking seriously about dying it green but ran out of steam. It will probably get packed away with my turned nativity scene for next year's Christmas decorating.

That is a fantastic piece !!!!, Your choice of using a Christmas tree shape is great idea !!!!!!

I'm glad you liked it! The Christmas tree shape really adds a festive touch to the stacking boxes, doesn’t it?

Very neat approach to this month's challenge; the Christmas tree shape was an excellent idea. Really like the way it turned out. Given the number of pieces, it also appears that one of the additional challenges was constraining the video to a reasonable amount of time. Yours is the second of the four I've watched -- way behind on watching these. Thanks for all the work you guys do on these monthly challenges -- they are really interesting and beneficial.

I'm really enjoying seeing what the four of you come up with in this 4-Ways challenge. Each set of boxes is so different. I love your set because I can see several good uses for it. ♥

That is a marvelous piece. Both the size and the decoration and the design. Beautiful work. And very grateful you weren't injured when #2 came off! Thanks for another excellent video!

The scope of this project really comes through. One of those things you don’t realize at the start. But 5x 25 steps is a good indication. Thanks for the enlightenment.

Good looking impressive piece of work. On my depth drill I keep a tight O ring and use that to mark the required depth, it works well.

Love the texturing on the box base texturing. I may have now found a use for those dremel burr tools!!! EDIT: Mike, I'm guessing at the dremel tool: Brass rod, drilled to accept the dremel burr, with a drop of oil for lubrication?

Very nice and a really useful sized set of boxes. Question: since you’re going to hallow out the box could you use s woodworm screw to secure it or will it not hold?
@MikePeaceWoodturning17 күн бұрын
It probably would have held but I do not use a WW screw in end grain if I can avoid it.
@DavidAnderson-u2z18 күн бұрын
"that was exciting ". Understatement. I really hate it when I'm almost ready for finishing and my wood decides to take flying lessons. My cement floor doesn't help its appearance after landing.
@MikePeaceWoodturning18 күн бұрын
Fortunately it does not happen enough for me to always leave a layer of shavings on the floor. But it does insure I wear a faceshield.

@@MikePeaceWoodturning it happens so quickly, it seems to happen to me more often than I’d like, so seeing what you do is a big help for me as I try to get better at this.

Your work is beautiful but I have a newby question... Everything I read says "remove the pith" or the "heartwood." I don't understand how I see all these beautiful log projects that obviously keep the heartwood and even bowls aren't all done through the side grain and keep the pith. Does it depend on the wood species? Doesn't seem logical.
@MikePeaceWoodturning9 күн бұрын
Some woods do have a more stable pith but it is not common. Maybe this video will help. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aXbSgIdpq9l1fNU You do not have to eliminate all heartwood! This project was from a blank at least an inch away from the pith. No pith in this project.
