The reason FCA made the Compass a model year 2017 is because the vehicle is being introduced worldwide as a 2017 and they did not want to confuse the public by having the car introduced as a 2017 in Brazil, which came out last year there, and a 2018 here in the USA. They wanted to keep the model year the same worldwide!

Thanks for the overview! Check out the white model with the sun roof, you like that one even better. The design comes out much better and with the two tones (Roof and trimming are black) this Jeep is a hug improvement to older models. All things considered the 2.4 liter engine is well OK, but when you consider how the car looks, it's under powered. The car deserves that something extra ;-)

2018 Jeep Compass Limited Auto 2.0 D Multiair 4X4 owner - Please note, the Jeep featured here is the Basic model with standard features. I opted for the Limited addition, full spec with panoramic sunroof. The difference between the two is quite significant. No idea about the Easter Eggs (not sufficiently interested to have researched them). Maybe have an answer to the year question Mike had. In the UK market, new number plate designations come out twice per year. My Jeep is 20018 sp I have 18 in the number plate. However, in October, purchasers will get a 68 number plate - indicating that their Jeep is newer than mine. On the other hand, if you purchase the vehicle in March 2019 . . you will still get the 2018 plate. Consequently, nobody will buy then and wait a month till April when the new plate is issued.

I grew up on CD's myself and prefer them, and hate the Bluetooth the youngsters are using. That said I have put dozens of my CD's on a USB stick which I can plug in and use the voice button to call up and play any song without touching a CD. So I was disappointed in the missing CD player as well but I have to tell you after using the USB stick I would now never want a CD player now, you can still order them in many new cars however.

Don denis It makes perfect sense though, the demographic of people that still use CDs is so tiny, it would be a waste of time and money for Jeep to install CD players into their vehicles. Not to mention, Bluetooth is far more practical and useful

Jeep still does offer CD plays in their vehicles. I know as we have many of them in our rental fleet. They are no long in the dash but in the center cancels. It is an option now.

New Jeeps do not have much dealer markup but you should be able to get it about $500 under sticker. Some dealers have addendum stickers that add to the price of the sticker so watch out for those. The price of the vehicle is not usually where people overpay... it is usually the financing and insurance that is the problem.

Wait for the 2018 model even though it may be identical because if you lease it, the 2018 will have a higher residual value which will result in lower lease payments. If you buy it, one day you will be selling it and it will technically be one year newer as a used vehicle. The only reason you should buy a 2017 would be if there is a substantial price reduction over the 2018. Good Luck, am I considering one of these also.

I just bought the limited model for my daughter, I could not be more impressed with this jeep. I have always bought Grand Cherokees and get about $5000 off sticker. This time a check of truecar.com confirmed buyers are only getting hundreds to a maybe $1000 off on the new compass. My family buys a lot of vehicles and the salesman is a friend and I could only get $1600 off this time around. Also if you check Kelly blue book for the value they consider this new model a 2017 1/2 so the value is better than your outgoing 2017.

Well I own a Jeep Compass. The Dash board lighting does not auto turn off at night. If you are able to shut it off it has a great chance of coming back on. I have a case going on one now. My Jeep will not be in my hands for they say 45 days as the Programers figure a way to fix this issue. Until this is fixed I can not recommend this Vehicle!
