I don't see this as cheating, I see this as being smart and not naive in a cutthroat world. Admittedly, there is a fine line that needs to be observed. How do you draw that line? How do you make yourself observe that line? If you're about to buy a nice new computer and a relative tells you that those computers are about to go on sale, is it cheating if you wait until they go on sale whereas others who do not have that insider information buy the computer right now? More importantly: Does it harm anyone? That's where the fine line comes in. (What annoys me much more is the persistent notion in some circles that women don't have brains, hence cannot be successful traders, but that is a personal pet peeve. It does not matter if people let you do your thing, but it matters greatly when people stop you from doing your thing.) Also, if you are really good at something, there will always be an astonishing number of people who hate you for that. Sometimes, it's best to hide that you are really good at something, or really smart.

It all depends on you and what area you want to specialize in. All technicals are similar but fundamentals are totally different. For example, u can focus purely on oil and try to understand demand/supply curve, opec... For fx, u want to understand a country's interest policies, economy, usd strength/weakness... If u have more questions, just ask them here and I'll make future videos about how to decide what to trade.
