Great set of pry bars. I have the big hft one and it's bent beyond repair. The set I have I can't remember if they are snap on or NAPA. They are old enough that you can't read anything on the handle or the metal part. I have used and abused them on heavy equipment. Retired know so everything I have know is getting a brake and used every know and then. Great video thanks my friend keep up the great work and see you in the next one

I do own some tools from HF, but I never have nor will trust their pry bars. I’ve got that same set in green and love them. That big one you got was around $175, I believe. I like the bright colors cause they’re easier to find, especially when I was in the field.

So how much did pay for the black one? With Snap On it don’t make a difference what the color is price wise as they’ve realized people want different colors.

A great set of pry bars and leagues ahead of the older style snap on pry bars. Was that a craftsman pro that broke, the kind with the red and black rubber ergo handle. Those kind are the best craftsman made by Mayhew. If it was the kind with the plastic redish orange handle those are garbage. Great share.

I have these pry bars and I actually love them. I'm far from a brand croney. I own Sunex, Snap on, Gearwrench, Cornwell, etc. Snap-On pry bars are very good. Minimum flex and in typical snap on fashion, you can't get much better, but you also can't pay any more ;)

You might want to look at a burk bar or burk bar copy they are absolutely priceless for prying anything . Klein makes a really good pry bar kind of like a burke bar and I think it's called a gorilla bar or Grizzly bar . All of this bars should be able to be purchased for under $100 a piece . The one I have is a Marshalltown branded Burke bar and I got it at Lowe's for like $65 . Its a beast .

@1pcfred7 жыл бұрын
Ah, you have to use the right tool for the job. Pry bars are not magic. Steel only has so much tensile strength. What I'm driving at here is that for heavy work you need big levers. Even your 3 foot bar is not really that big. If I have to move something really large I got a 6 foot old school digging bar that I break out. It's over an inch in diameter, with about a 2 inch square head on it. If that don't move it then you need to use heavy equipment. The bar I have looks like the one on the right in this picture goo.gl/sVnajy

Lock those up if you don't have eyes on them. I bought my brother a complete set of channel locs . I mean everything they make including cable cutters. He is a Union Master Plumber and was working at a power plant during a shut down. Went in one morning and when he came back out his truck tool box had been broken into and every one was gone. So I got him a huge job box. A bit harder to break into one of those.

Here’s to making an emotional decision, man. You could have just purchase an extra HF bar and use two in place of one. I’d also ask (because I don’t know and aren’t pretending to) is a prybar the right tool for whatever job you where doing. If it is, see first part of comment. If it isn’t and you’re using a prybar because it’s the more convenient tool than maybe you should use the right tool. This is JUST AN OPINION. But I wouldn’t have went out and bought $250+ in Strap-On BS when I could have just taken the HF back and got free replacement and picked up another, for extra leverage, for about $10. Hell you could’ve even grabbed your buddy a new Shaftsman and bought him lunch for his troubles. Your finger will heel. Just as sure as those Snap-Ons will fail you one day. This isn’t a criticism for all the S-O fanboys out there so spare me the hate mail. You don’t go out and buy a new truck because you smashed you finger in the door. And you don’t go out and pay 280+ bucks for a $10 problem. IJS

You liked those Snap-On handles. I don’t blame you, but I wonder if that Craftsman was Taiwan. These won’t snap: sears.com/craftsman-professional-3-piece-curved-blade-pry-bar/p-00943288000P Made by Mayhew who probably makes those Snap-On bars. Nor will this: sears.com/craftsman-36-in-pry-bar-with-strike-cap/p-00943387000P Made by Wilde Tool. Key is to make sure the bar goes to the end of the handle, or at least isn’t plastic, which you just proved to everyone Pittsburgh does not and is. Also good quality bars get thicker as you go up in length to handle higher weight. A 36” should be 5/8” tempered (USA) square stock steel.

I too have been hurt by exploding cheap tools. Years ago I was working on galvanized house plumbing that was "frozen". The cheap pair of channel locks exploded in my hand and cut my fingers. I was so angry that I marched into my garage and emptied all my tool boxes on the garage floor. I sorted through each tool individually and if it was a quality USA made tool it went back into the tool boxes. If the tool was cheap foreign made tool went into a cardboard box and was given to a friend who does not have a lot of money. Then off the the hardware store with a list of tools that I needed to replace. I really try to avoid cheap tools but it is getting harder and harder to find good USA tools anymore.

Damn, I got a really nice Craftsman set of same sized pry bars on sale for $20 this year. Best part of all is they were forged in the USA. I know they were probably clearancing out the "OLD STYLE" made in USA parts just to flush them out of the store, but still that was one hell of a bargain. It's a shame that now to get some nice Pry Bars you've got to pay Snap-On price for it. People really didn't know what they were doing when they stopped buying Craftsman's made in the USA stuff and left for Husky or Kobalt or something. Sure you saved a few dollars, but now there's no quality middle man USA part anymore! If all they make are Indian pry bars that are brittle and shatter and you have to pay $100 for a Snap On... well, the consumer created that gap.
