In 1972 my Dad and i flew to Oshawa Ontario to the IH plant to pick up his new Transtar 4300, 318, dual stacks, he was so excited, window down, his head out the window listening to that Detroit, lol

Most truckers I know cut the stacks just high enough so the exhaust stream does not blow on the load or trailer. No higher, no lower. Shorter pipes mean more clearance to go under things. 13' 6" is max height on a stack in the U.S.. Working in a truck shop, I have several styles of fuel caps with 1/8 " pipe threads tapped into them and use a 1/8" air valve to pressurize tanks for various reasons

Sounds awesome. Love it. Put a shorter "mitre cut" tip on the top. It'll look better. Can't wait to see Low n Slow with the dual pipes.

The single exhaust sounds great, looking forward to dual stacks. If you want, you can change the ramps for longer ones with hydraulic or pneumatic systems to raise and lower them. Interesting method of transferring fuel from 1 tank to the other, simple and effective.
@vaughnhill34373 жыл бұрын
As far as you t for your strait pipe is to put the t right at the pipe you already have and just run it over to the other amd turn it strait up. Miter cut pipe tips or turnouts

i like the new exhaust, from the back and side, i think it looks to high, but from the front it looks cool, but it's your truck, you just do what you like, looks good regardless
@jeffreykbevins71163 жыл бұрын
I would like to see it with dual stacks and I do think that the single that you put on is a little to tall. I'm loving what your doing with both trucks, and I love to watch the videos as you do something to them each time. I don't always catch them when they are up at first, but I try to see them as I have time. Be careful and stay safe and keep on restoring the trucks. And I will be looking forward to each new video. I live on my farm in Lawrence County, Kentucky. That is in Eastern Kentucky, the town of Louisa, KY, which is the home town of the county music singer Ricky Skaggs. I live about 7 to 8 miles from where that he grew up on a farm, at Blaine, KY. Catch you later !!! As always, Jeffrey !!!

With turn outs or curved stacks there would be less chance of rain to get in exhaust if sitting out side. But duals always make the look much better.

I like the backup lights, they look high enough so they won’t blind you...
@albydigiammarco33733 жыл бұрын
Very nice, the Jakes sounds good. On a smaller truck like that, this is a personal preference, I'd leave the single stack but I'd have one complete straight piece and slightly shorter.

Sounds perfect! I drive a C12 with "modified" exhaust. There's just something unique about Cats and their turbo whine.
@TheJstewart20103 жыл бұрын
I agree that it's way too tall. Personally, I like the curved top instead of the miter cut. Keeping water out of the pipes looks a lot more difficult with the miter cut as well.

A barking cat, awesome! I'm thinking a curved tip looks better as long as it's still a single stack. The angle cut looks great on a dual stacked truck. And yes it's a bit tall, needs to be shortened. Otherwise, I love it.

Mike, so on the door panels of that truck. The grad handle piece, take the screws out and take the whole piece off and you can peel off the black plastic cover, get some adhesive remover, clean the glue off and you can polish it up and make it shine. That's aluminum under the black plastic stuff.

@robertgarrett50093 жыл бұрын
You need to install some pneumatic rams for the ramps, even if they just assist you raising them, same as the cab jack. Trucks here use a hydraulic ram system from the cab.

Put the original window crank back on & get a replacement knob. It would probably look better with the diameter transition below the shield. It wouldn't look so funky.
@docnelles12493 жыл бұрын
Nothing wrong with the height. I like the angle cut. Looking forward to having tandem pipes. Maybe put on 8 inch ones to really accent that throaty sound. The new pipe definitely let you hear the turbo out when accelerating. Both trucks will be fantastic when you finish them.

@jaredmoore59913 жыл бұрын
I like the idea of shorter. If you set them up for about 13' 4" you will clear everything. As far as the cut... what ever you like 👍 Also though if you do a cut or flat top remember that rain water and any time you wash it the water will go in it 😉 ( I have that problem with my work truck)
@petahdickinson17823 жыл бұрын

@mikethetrucknut3 жыл бұрын

@spannerworx71063 жыл бұрын
I'd chop that folding ramp tail off and have a flat single fold hydraulic ramp. Long as possible. I'd even consider some ramp extensions and stash them under the bed just in case. You could make the fold up ramp have mounting pegs in at different spacing for good flexibility for the ramp extensions. Air suspension dump also.
@benmac9403 жыл бұрын
How it is gives you the ability to use the entire thing as a flat deck if required though. Which was the appeal with that style, where I am anyway.

I think the newer style stacks look like total shit. On all trucks. The regular 5in pipe with the 7in tip 🤢. Just get a straight chrome pipe in 5in or whatever size you want. Same size pipe the whole length of the stack down to the elbow. straight cut with a rain cap flapper.
@MrHristoB3 жыл бұрын
