I've honestly starting using almost exclusively elaztech baits on the back of my swim jigs because it slows the fall rate way down and it makes the jig stand up when you kill it. Makes it a killer around holes in the grass and when they're roaming around beds

Very cool video and technique! How would you rig up using a BIG EZ? Just upsize the swim jig a hook size and to a 1/4oz? Impressed how you can attack that thick cover and walk right through it!

Learned this last year. Very sneaky technique! Important to note that when it gets really hot in the summer, this works early morning before the sun rises. After the sun and temps rise, this bite falls off. Then the wrightless EZ with a slower cadence will get bit. This is full of great info on the cadence, and what to do when a fish misses it the first time! And a great trick for huge bites.

@@mikeybalzz Dude exactly my thoughts, a black swim jig, skirt, and trailer! Between the wake, and that unique tail plop, its got to be money. I never do it either, but I'm doing some this year on the Jon! I heard night time = huge bites.

You're saying this isn't well known? I'm surprised if that's so. I'm a what-ever fisherman. I've been fishing swim jigs with exactly a Gambler EZ with part of the front bit-off to shorten the bait. The swim bait makes the jig wobble. It's almost like a subtle crankbait action.

Used to use a similar technique in Virginia at Back Bay. We used a Johnson Silver Minnow with a white or chartreuse twister tail. Needed a stout rod as Back Bay is basically 29,000 acres of mostly milfoil. I’ve had fish out there that I could get turned and they would snap the line. I’m talking 15-20 pound test. That’s heart stopping action!!!

I really like the technique. I especially like the fact that you did something I was taught 40 years ago by Orlando Wilson and that is to spread that weed guard on the jig. I do that on all my jigs with heavy weed guards and it really improves the hook UPS And yet keeps the dait weedless. very few talk about that.
